The way NP likes to play with deeper central midfielders Belaid and Koren wont play in the middle unless we are really short there. We have to give the lad a chance, he showed what he could do in the Premier League. Can't be easy for a young lad with all these changes. Anyway, he is a better passer than Harper that is for sure. Evans will be the one that will get stuck in more and Cairney will hopefully dictate the play. All this about him being slow is irrelevant. Scholes, Xavi, Pirlo they aren't fast. This is the type of player Cairney is, he isn't box to box, he isn't going to dart into the box at last minute. He will just sit in the middle of the field, taking the ball and giving it.
If Devitt is to play he has to be on the RIGHT wing. People talk about his inconsistency but from what I can remember, his poor performances have been out on the left flank and his better games have been in his preferred position.
Mixed feelings on this one, happy that Cairneys getting another chance but want to see Roko in the middle.
Not worried about which midfielders start but the Ginja Ninja on one side and Dawson on the other scare the crap out of me!
As I said, we'll see tomorrow at 3pm. If I'm wrong I'll fully hold my hands up, reveal where I got the info and never listen to them again, but I'm fully confident it's reliable.
wanty to see cairney get a run in, could go well with evans, both very good on the ball, think the competition will up cairneys game,
I would start with Devo tomorrow on the right and bring Stewart in the hole to play 1/2s with Fryatt and McLean. Koren tucking in with Evans central. Guzan Macca Chester Gerrard Dawson Devitt Evans Koren Stewart SuperMat McLean Bench: Duke, Nobby, Cairney, Barmby, Simpson, Belaid..... Enough there to knock seven bells out of the Scunts..but you never can tell.
I've wanted to see Cairney given another chance for a little while but it's been hard to see it happening with the team playing so well. You don't just turn into a bad player overnight and some of his performances last year where fantastic. Maybe this division doesn't suit him maybe it's something else, there's a million different reasons a players hit bad form. Hopefully now the competition's there he'll up his game though and we'll see what we know he's capable of. At least we don't rely on him like we were at the start of the season, it's nice to know we have plenty of cover for the middle now.
I'll probably get slated but here goes, I don't want to see Cairney start tomorrow. Yes he should be given another chance but as a sub. For me he weakens the team, slows things down in midfield, can't tackle or hold up play. It'll be like starting with 10 men on a potatoe patch of a pitch. Lets hope Pearson see's sense, Puts Koren and Evans central midfield and then works from there. Will be a tough game tomorrow, if Pearson doesn't get it right we'll get turned over!
You're telling me!! I never normally post, but I'm liking this board a lot, so thought I would try and be helpful!
this is true..Tom Cairney is starting tommorow... he is a good friend of mine and I asked him earlier so yeah it is true Good Shout Premiertiger
My thoughts exactly. I suppose we should just trust Nige and what he sees in training. I was expecting to see Solano at RB, but McShane until recently was being lauded as the better defender, so we should be OK...
im worried whatever team plays tomorrow, that every pundit/journalist etc is predicting a city win....whenever is it that simple for us? i dont like playing teams that havent won at home for ages, as runs like that dont last forever...
If Cairney does play tomorrow have to say I`ll be a bit surprised, given the physical challenge that Scunny will throw at us (they seem to have recruited some crunchers of late), now Cairney aint a bad little player, but he aint one for the physical side of things and certainly doesn`t seem to have the physical speed or speed of thought to get away from it, hope if he does play he proves me wrong but can`t help thinking this may be the wrong game to throw him back into the fold. Would prefer to see Koren next to Evans, Koren is a lot quicker reading the game and Evans likes a tackle or three, then get Devitt on the right wing, but hey what do I know.
I think this is Cairneys chance to step up and prove he's worth something to us this season, or he goes out on loan. I'm all in favour of the lad getting his chance he's got great potential, I just worry as do many others it seems that this is the wrong game and will be too physical. That and the pressure as I feel we have to win this and the next game to keep play off hopes alive. I wanted 4 points from the last 3, draw at Reading, bonus points vs QPR (losing wouldn't have been bad), and a win vs Leeds. Now I know we're only 1 point off that, but giving leeds a point potentially puts us 2 or 3 points back again as they're the team I'm aiming at catching.
