Would now be a bad time to mention that Jack Grealish isn't in Villa's squad today?

...yes, I know he's injured, but I think we can all guess what tomorrow's clickbait will be suggesting

Been out for a few weeks now.

No doubt he's been watching Spurs while recovering. Not long now, Jack, not long. :bandit:

A report on La Roma 24 has Wanyama's agent claiming his client won't be moving in January

Oddly specific that he'd make that claim to a Roma site, don't you think?

    From tomorrow's Mirror...

"Aston Villa's hopes of solving their Financial Fair Play issues could come down to selling Jack Grealish or potential compensation from the Government over HS2-related disruption to their Bodymoor Heath training ground."

Get good odds now (while you can) on Grealish going the Berahino route.

Interesting to see Chelsea being linked with offers for £50m for ageing strikers Cavani and Higuain, That's serious money for players of their ages, especially for players who have never played in the PL and Higuain's got the look of a player who doesn't fancy running himseld ragged on a wet Wednesday night in Wolverhampton. They seriously overpaid for Giroud last January, without success. It shows how quickly the fall comes when you're reduced to the EL, not just the TV money but the damage it does to sponsors, ticket sales, the ability to attract top players and profile.

If the stories are true, it smacks of desperation to get CL football for next season. They're not in with any chance of winning a trophy this season that would matter a damn to them. It shows how quickly and dramatically the fall comes when you're used to CL money, that they're possibly gambling on very expensive short-term buys and taking on loan players like Kovacic and Arsenal have signed players like Lichsteiner, Sokratis and Leno. Anyone who'd rather win the Carabao or FA Cup, beware!

If you can keep your rivals out of the CL while forcing ever higher wage
bills on them in their quest to correct this, then your job is half done.

    The Goons now epitomise this.
The wages of the likes of Ozil and Aubamuyeng means their total
bill is nearly at the level of recent PL title winners, but without the
revenues that the silverware actually brings.

So Seri showed his class again today- we definitely dodged one there.

Seesegnon giving away a penalty- now he would fit in to our team.

Fulham had 20 shots, only 2 were on target. One of those was a penalty that was saved.......<yikes>

Maybe getting Sessegnon this summer could happen as part of their post-relegation fire sale?

  12. I know he’s only just back from injury and playing in a struggling Fulham team, but despite having great potential he’s far from the finished article and would take a lot of ‘Pochitisation’ to break into our first team.
But it would be a great move for all parties I think :emoticon-0148-yes:

Not you Spurlock, but there are others.

I'd love a win of something shiny. I've been at the stadiums to see us win 2 UEFA Cups, 3 League Cups and 2 FA Cups but as I didn't make the 2008 Final, it's been 20 years. I'd dearly love a win but if I was asked what the top priority was at the start of each season for the next 5 years, I'd say CL football. I'd take that achievement above winning anything else because it will pay off a huge chunk of the debt, which could become a millstone around our neck.

I'd prefer Joe Lewis to recapitalise the club. Since buying it, he's put in £14m by way of a rights issue. Given that we can pump In the cost of the stadium without affecting FFP, we should do it. Now's the time to exploit the weakness of Chelsea and Arsenal. Get the sponsorship of the stadium sorted on the basis that we're desperate for every penny and then re-capitalise with a rights issue or take a US partner to nail NFL at the new ST/\DIUM.

If we did that, we could go hunting real trophies and domestic cups!

Il Messaggero are claiming that Milan have received an offer from us for Franck Kessie

    Okay, where to begin?
i.) Kessie is on a two-year loan to Milan from Atalanta
ii.) While it is true that Kessie's loan deal includes an obligation to buy, Milan haven't actually exercised it yet
iii.) This obligation would set back Milan €20m (on top of the €8m loan fee)
iv.) Between various fees Milan would need £25m to break even, so we can presumptuously add at least £10m to any fee we would pay
v.) Would now be a bad moment to mention Il Messaggero is a Rome-based paper that primarily reports on Roma & Lazio?

More than anything else, Kessie looks like a cut-price Ndombele (because we're at the point where the term "cut-price" can be applied to players who'd cost north of £30m), and there are a few weaknesses in Kessie's game, notably his tendency to hurl himself into tackles that he can get away with in Serie A but not the Premier League while his passing can be summed up with the word "sideways" when we need someone more dynamic in the Dembele role

Just tweeted by Sky Sports Transfer Centre. Didn’t hear the full interview. Has this been taken out of context?
