He may be finished with a lot of Charlton fans, but on a wider scale he'll brush it aside. All those millions of Prem fans and even Championship club fans who listen to TalkSport don't care about whether or not Charlton get taken over or if Jim White was right or wrong about calling it. He gets some kudos and an ego massage if he was right, he shrugs and moves on if he was wrong. We won't be taken in by him again if there is no take-over next week, but it won't hurt his career. In the whole ocean of football, The RD at CAFC story is just too small a drop to make any difference.
Jim White could be about to join the other false takeover prophets who end up covered in a bucket of sh1t. #donedeal
Basically yes. White has claimed his information is from the buyers, not Duchatelet. But JW got very pally with RD during those interviews. If these latest take-over rumours turn out to be false yet again (which is now looking more likely by the minute) we would have to conclude that Roland has played Jim like a fiddle. Jim White will no-doubt continue to promote his wisdom and ITK-ness about all things on TalkSport and most of his listeners will continue to buy it. But Charlton fans will know he is actually a fool.
I think it is important to consider what Bowyer said after the Sunderland game; he has heard nothing, and would have thought that RD or someone would have told him that the takeover is imminent. This could mean that either Bowyer has been told to say nothing, or he genuinely does not know anything. If the latter, then it would seem we are going to have RD with us for a very long time. Personally, l think the whole subject has been blown up by those that wish to make mischief, but l really hope l am wrong.
Originally it was going to be done deal by Friday, then Saturday, then early next week, now Wednesday. It has a familiar feel to it. NLA is sceptical about it, too.
If nothing has happened by Wednesday the bubble will have well and truly burst. We're all in the dark, really, but I do know that Mick Everitt has been expecting the takeover to happen, so I'm not giving up... yet.
What does Two Sh1ts gain by leaking a false rumour ? Perhaps it’s the “Ben Hayes defence”, he who posted a load of takeover BS elsewhere yesterday “as a joke” ? I could understand it if RD was using it to buy time in the January window, but Preston fans on Twitter say that Maxwell is signing a contract with us, and Williams has already joined. Like Diane Abbot - it doesn’t add up.
Where Roland's concerned you can't take anything for granted. Since he bought Charlton there has been a culture of lies and deceit, which will remain until he is gone. We must hope and pray that he takes it with him. The Muir consortium weren't much better, so no need to rush to judgment atm.
I don't think it's ever been Duchatelet making up rumours to be fair. It's middle-aged men that enjoy pretending to hold secret knowledge.
The new owner should have a policy of employing no fans, long term or otherwise. Unless they go through an open recruitment process competing against applicants from the private sector. Nor do we need any fan’s spokesman or mouthpieces or self aggrandising links to the new Directors.
A 606 member * has DM’d me overnight, confidently offering me a wager that the takeover will not happen this week. * he’s small & with terrible dress sense.
I also have a really bad feeling that it won’t happen this week. I feel that we have been lied to again.
