He's struggling at Chelsea is that contes fault? your pathetic hate article means nothing..... history tells us he's a winner. You have no idea it's really that simple I'm afraid. We over achieved last season and we are where we were expected to be this season. Be real Or you'll end up with Steve Bruce or Nigel Pearson at best
Real Madrid - he was only there 7 months, hardly time to enjoy an expensive (in RM terms) reign. Don’t think they struggled to rebuild either. Napoli - won Copa Italia Cup, and achieved CL place in 2 years. Chelsea - he was only there 6 months again hardly time to have an expensive reign but still won Europa League and achieved CL place I accept Rafa isn’t a Keegan in style terms. I agree the football is turgid. I accept some of the substitutions are baffling. I accept some of the tactics are bewildering. Bottom line is Rafa achieved 10th place last season. How many fans expected that after Ashley’s miserly interference in transfers following promotion. We are currently out of the bottom 3. Just but we are still out of the relegation spots. Again where was everyone expecting us to be? Again after Ashley’s stupidity in the transfer window for the 3rd window running. I refuse to criticise any manager who is asked to do a job but isn’t given the tools to carry it out never mind one who also has both hands tied behind his back and has to wear a blindfold whilst balancing one footed on a high wire over a swimming pool of sharks. For me only one man merits criticism in this scenario and that is Ashley.
Strong words mate and I know a lot who agree with you. Personally I still have faith in Rafa and just want him to be given the tools to show us what we could be.
Surprised with a lot of comments here. When Rafa has been at a club that has the ambition and resources to win trophies, he has. We're not there, we're nowhere near there and so you can't compare us to those clubs. If we consistently spent £70/80 million a transfer window then we'd be expected to challenge for cups etc and if weren't, we would be within our rights to have concerns. Under this regime, we're fighting to stay up and with these limited finances, Rafa has over achieved. Some here talk about removing Rafa so we can start playing attacking football - I'd love to know which manager you have in mind that would get the likes of Atsu, Perez, Murphy and Joselu playing that kind of football. Rafa has done an unbelievable job here and without him, we'd be relegated. If he was backed properly then I'd have no doubt that we'd be a top ten club.
I agree to an extent. I like Rafa and couldn't believe we ever got a manager of his calibre and that he stuck with us in the championship. Yes he has his hands tied behind his back but some of the carp we have he purchased though when you are shopping in the bargain bins then you probably won't get much to work with! He isn't flawless though, why swap out the wingers yesterday and stick with 451 when we were 0-1 down to a team in the league below us?? I hate watching us at the moment and part of that is down to Rafa BUT I appreciate he doesn't really have the tools to work with
It’s the oxymoron though. We can never be CL ambitious, so why have a manager who wants to be? We will never invest in big players or infrastructure, why have a manager who wants that? He’s ignoring youth for fear of them not being up for a relegation battle, yet that’s all we are ever going to be in. He persists with some of the worst footballers I’ve ever seen, to what end?? Yes he’s lumbered with bad players, but many of whom HE picked ahead of better ones!! I’m sure he’d love to buy Aguero etc, but when why would anyone ever think we can do that?? Again it’s as though we should be happy to kill any kind of freedom football in exchange for dire 0-0 results. That’s not what football is, it’s not pl survival it’s ****ing entertainment and we have by far and away the worst football on display in the top flight for the second season in a row. We bored our way to a barely deserved championship title. Anyone remember being exhilarated more than a handful of times? And the killer here is if we can produce some attacking impetus like the final 10 mins via Blackburn, why the **** can’t we try that from the start?????
If we are taken over and given a big wad of cash then try all our might to keep Rafa. If not, personally I would want rid. The football is terrible and if we are going to go down or scrape a survival I would at least want to do this fighting and attacking.
I criticise Rafa on his big signings. Murphy is ****e and if Muto's a £10m player, why does he not play him? He's not beyond criticism.
What was our aim 17th simple as that You guys say 17th will do but you must all have been talking out your arseholes to avoid being caught out as being your true deluded selves. We're doing ok
This 10 million is nothing these days and of the 10 million range players they'll have been the ones with the lowest wage auction price .
I have no issue with the Muto signing. The issue I have is with signing Murphy when we had already sigend Atsu.
Yes, seriously. They're both ****e, as is Atsu. I follow Newcastle home and away and the quality of our football is diabolical, worst I've seen for decades. Would you trust him with a load of money? I wouldn't. He wanted to pay £20m for Kennedy ffs. His obsession with Perez is a joke, his tactics and subs are bewildering. Any other manager would have been hounded out months ago.
I can't believe people are turning on rafa tbh it's a disgrace he didn't have to stay . I hope he quits because the fans here are the worst fans in the world.
This was at a time when most fans were waking themselves silly over Aarons. Considering what our needs were and still are spending £18M on 2 players when our transfer budget was not much more was rather foolish.
