If you dont mind me askin, how much do you guys roughly get paid for your average gig?

It depends.

A lot of the gigs in Pixie’ Gig Guide pay sub £300, which we will not entertain. £300 is the lowest we’ll play for, but only if we like the venue. The clubs pay around £600.

I'm a bit surprised you don't charge more tbh given that you are Dorset's most prestigious rock band and have all of the major venues falling over themselves to book you. Our approach has always been to tell the venue what we charge, rather than the other way around. Although there's always room for a bit of negotiation. Don't mean to sound funny, but there is no way we would play for £300 unless it was for a mate's birthday party or something.

Seems quite low that mate. Can’t leave much after your overheads etc that Piskie mentioned. But like I said, if you enjoy doin it, fair play

Not being funny, but we’d blow the socks off your little outfit. I don’t think it’s fair to you to compare.

We charge above the going rate for this area.

You don’t play semi pro for the money. None of us do.

We get paid above the going rate for our patch.

If Pix is giving it large trying to make out that his band earns more I can absolutely promise you that he’s talking bollocks.

We probably wouldn't do it for £300, unless as I mentioned it was for a mate's birthday party or something. But for a club or venue, no way. They are going to be pulling in £1-2k on the door and probably another £2k in bar sales. I know they have their overheads and profit margins, but £800-£1k for the main entertainment is reasonable enough. Especially given our own overheads.

As I say though, I don't earn a penny of that money. It's purely a hobby for me, playing music with my mates and earning enough to keep it all going.

Well seeing as you haven't got a clue what sort of music we play, I'm gonna let that one slide.

I'm genuinely surprised to hear you charge so little. For a 5 piece band you're earning £60 each for a 2-3 hour gig ?
