I think today confirms what we've know for some time now,we just don't have the strength in depth or tactical awareness to battle our way out of a paper bag.
It just confirms that Lambert doesn’t have a clue. Four defeats on the bounce including Accrington Stanley.
Well our away form under Lambert = L L L L L. Goals scored you ask in them 5 games? 0. Pathetic. Main pluses were Downes first half, Bishop second. That's my lot. To be fair, collectively we went from abysmal first half to sub-standard second half, but not good enough today.
Embarrassing. Just absolutely embarrassing. Genuinely fear we may struggle to get back into the Championship next season or the foreseeable future. This club reeks of decline and decay.
Lambert has come out tonight slagging off his players. So much for “I pick the team, they follow my instructions and if they make mistakes it’s my fault.” That didn’t last long at all.
He’s come out and said some of the players aren’t good enough and must go, which is the understatement of the season. This squad is evidently not good enough. It’s the worst Ipswich Town squad I can recall watching. This manager is evidently failing his brief and has a terrible win record, just like Paul Hurst. This ownership has squeezed out the quality from this club and repeatedly makes profits in transfer windows. We need a root and branch reform and overhaul at this club. I hope someone rich and with an actual interest in football and Ipswich Town want to buy us because we need leadership and some forward-thinking ideas from the top.
I think he is rapidly becoming a candidate to top the list of inept Ipswich Town managers ahead of Hurst, Jewell, McGiven and Keane - no mean feat.
And by your own standards you should start hating him as that seemed to be your biggest beef with Hurst!?
My standards - I've used this forum for maybe the duration of Mick's reign / backed him the entire time. With Hurst - due to various people I know - I knew their was a major problem so wanted him out plus I couldn't stand him. Not really sure how them two factors combined equal what you've said but sure okay. With Lambert - Willing to give time etc but so far results are incredibly poor and due to how harsh I was with Hurst felt it warranted me to at least start a post stating Lambert's results to date. I'm certainly not Lambert out etc as he's inherited a shower of a squad, however, results are worse with Lambert to date than Hurst - there's no disputing that. Be interested to see who else joins in January, and how results go between now to the end of the season.
Well I'd be a hypocrite if going to go mental at Hurst, yet say zero to Lambert with P12 W1 D3 L8 - it's frankly unacceptable the results to date and really must improve. I know we all want a manager to succeed and I've a better feeling with him right now than I did with Hurst ( haven't heard of a single moment of trouble behind the scenes for example ) but ultimately ( as I said countless times under my defense of Mick's row Z AV IT ) I'm result 1 everything else after. The aim of the games to win, football isn't iceskating with extras for this that and the other. 3 / 1 / 0. That's your lot! Play to win.
That thing about trouble behind the scenes was a couple of egos - players / coaches - who thought they were bigger and better than they were.
Whatever it was is presumably not happening anymore and we’re now playing like complete amateurs so that puts that one to bed don’t you think? I only know what you and nuggets have said. What Bart, Chambo and Jason Dozzell have said. My source at the club who is a youth coach liked Hurst and what he was doing with the young players, so the sordid details I have no idea first hand. Whatever the ins and outs, it’s a moot point given what has unfolded under the present manager that everyone is ‘much happier with’.
I don’t care how bad lambert and hurst were / are. None of them are even close to Keane who had money to spend and threw it away. No manager since has been given any money to spend and yet fans want them to turn around our fortunes overnight. Itfc is a long term project. I though hurst should have been given more time and I am happy for lambert to continue long term. I’ve said befor3 that I believe 1 of the main issues is the clubs as a whole has become alienated from the fans, I don’t think this has to do with the results, it’s just not the friendly club it once was
It’s things like McCarthy slagging off the fans and then Lambert signing Will Keane. Lambert talks about the madness of our way of doing things in a press conference and then the very next day goes and does that. Ipswich Town and Theresa May’s government are neck and neck right now for Farce of the Season.
Just got back from a 511 mile round trip to Accrington, the first half we were outplayed due to a non existent mid field with our first shot at goal coming a couple of minutes before half time, Bart meanwhile had to make 4 or 5 saves and we made a couple of timely blocks as the ball was rarely out of our half. DOWNES was subbed at HT so he didn't get a red card and then with Bishop on we finally got into the game, we missed 2 sitters and from a free kick to the back post to an unmarked Stanley player who headed back across goal they scored and that was about it. Nolan useless, Spence useless, DOWNES useless, Edwards useless, Dozzell not much better, also Jackson, the players who did ok was Bart, Pennington, Nsiala, Sears and Elder, with Bishop trying hard. General impressions ? Poor quality players who give 100% but ineffective dominate the side, its bloody frightening
Well on a more positive note, congratulations to AS and I hope they get a top, top draw in the next round so they can pull in some much needed cash for their club.
