I reckon that side gets beat. Alisson Clyne Lovren VVD Moreno Fabinho hendo Kieta Shaqiri salah mane Lallana or Keita (not both) Hendo or Milner if Fab starts Salah, Mane given 60 minutes If we're losing after 60 then firminho on for Keita If we're winning then sturridge for Salah and firminho for Mane Rests one of Milner/Hendo Limits Salah/Mane/firminho game time not easy either way
I don't think Jaffa is saying that though, we have bigger fish to fry and the FA cup is way down the pecking order.
Trouble is, you can go chasing the glory and miss out in the process. I remember Arsenal fans thinking like this for years, that the FA cup was beneath us and we should only concentrate on the Prem and Champions League. Well for over a decade we won neither and then finally bagged 3 trophies in 5 years when we took the FA cup seriously again.
It's not so much a case of rubbishing, it's more a case of prioritising. I don't think there's a Liverpool fan out there who would disagree that we have to prioritise the league. Unless you are City, every other team would do the same in our position too.
Bolox to the cup, it's lost all of its appeal is definitely rubbishing it mate. As I mentioned above though, the danger with prioritising one trophy over another is that you are liable to miss out on them all.
yeah....I missed that post. Everyone entitled to their opinion. I'd love to have a squad strong enough to compete in both when we draw a tough early game (like we did in the league cup) - we don't, so we have to prioritise....with all of the risk that comes with that. The only way we win this league is to keep our best 11 fit. Period.
More the point that we don't have the squad to fight in all 3. The further you go the more your fixtures build up and would cause us a problem. We are ahead in the league, although I think City will win, we still have to do our best We are already progressed through in the champions league and I think have the team to progress all the way again.
I've always said we should try our best at every competition we're in. However, this season I'm thinking differently. This is the best chance we've had of winning the league for decades, even though we're up against arguably the best side ever to be in it. I think we need to prioritise the PL this time round and I wouldn't mind if we just let the cup go. I'd even sacrifice the CL if it guaranteed the Prem this time round. Not that I'm suggesting we throw it, because there are no guarantees, just that for me the PL is priority this year.
Did Arsenal start prioritising the FA cup when they knew they weren't good enough to win the bigger prizes? We are good enough to win the Prem. or CL right now, I think its right we go for those competitions with more vigour. Klopp won't say this, but he will be thinking it
I think we just realised that football was about winning trophies, rather than aiming at one or two and missing them both. If you're only counting 'major' trophies then Liverpool have won **** all for over a decade mate, so be wary of thinking you're good enough to win the league and CL and discounting the others. Because you could end up with another barren spell.
