How dare he say our farmers are ****ed.
On the other hand at least i will have more than health reasons to go vegan
Agree he is a snake. As I said before Christmas the government are now doing project fear to scare the crap out of us all so they vote Mays deal through. Very sad days for the Tories. They have some good young people yet they stick with the old tired lot. Even my MP John Redwood a no deal Brexitier gets knighted at Christmas. Is this to win his and his MP mates support?Burn the traitorous snake on a stake

That's like describing the swastika flag as red cotton with a bit of black on it!
I’m trying to cut red meat out at least during the week. Maybe a cheeky steak or bit of liver on the weekend but can see myself cutting it out entirely then cutting down on white meat.
Veganism just sounds difficult though. Vegetarianism I could do quite happily.
The millennial daughter of a friend of mine went vegan to pursue the current fad. After several months, her health and energy levels hit the floor, and she was advised by a gastro doctor and a dietician to take up a balanced diet. She added meat and fish to her diet again, and thankfully, has now fully recovered
It’s possible to replace the nutrients in meat and fish though. It’s one thing to go vegan and another to go vegan and do it stupidly.
Yes, true, but as a matter of interest, how do you replace the nutrients? Presumably more than just pills

The ‘nutrients’ are essentially protein. Lean meat, chicken breast, fish, eggs, milk, cheese etc are high in protein. But there are loads of vegetables, nuts, beans, grains which are equally high in protein, so vegans don’t need to supplement their diet if they eat well, ie not just chips fried in vegetable oil. And they will get a bigger range of other vitamins than a very meat based diet. A diet heavy in processed meat (bacon, sausages, ham, other cured meats) and ready meals is much worse than one with no meat at all.Yes, true, but as a matter of interest, how do you replace the nutrients? The balance is the key thing. If vegans think about what they are eating, and it’s more likely they will than the average non vegan, they will be healthy.Yes, processed meats are getting a really bad press, and clearly bacon is best regarded as a treat. I can't help feeling that a vegan diet is an artificial one. We are biologically omnivors not herbivores and a small amount of lean meat or fish is fine, so long as fruit, vegetable, roughage type cereals, nuts and grains and some dairy are also present. In short, a balanced diet.

On a related matter calls from the medical profession to classify obesity as a disease rather than a lifestyle issue. Not sure how this is meant to help.

There are medical conditions that lead to obesity, but I would have thought 99% of those that are overweight are this way because of their lifestyle and this can be addressed by education, and discipline and determination on the part of the individual
noIf you are overweight then it’s simple you eat too much
