Like I said on the Transfer Thread. We never had a chance of getting him back if we're being realistic.
I thought we had maybe a 5/10% chance given his age and his apparent attachment to the club but I never seriously thought it'd happen. Perhaps after he leaves Rangers if he hasn't retired. Get Robbie Keane in too why not.
I understand the theory but he'd have loads better options which would mean sentiment wouldn't even come into it. He will tear that league a new one make no mistake.
I'm not sure sentiment ever really comes into it for footballers it's just the fans projecting their feelings onto it, i think he enjoyed his time with us and there was the Bradley situation obviously but when he's weighing up options it would be playing every week and being paid well, we could offer the former not the latter. I wish him well, thought he was a bit of a twat before we signed him but I don't now. I watch the odd Scottish game and the forwards get loads of chances so he'll be banging them in.
