Lets face it he's not going to be a regular starter for the national team any more and quite frankly he's had nothing but abuse from the England supporters for years and the negative press he received yesterday was a very poor showing. It seems that the only set of supporters that appreciate what he has done for club and country are the Chelsea fans. He should do exactly what Scholes did and retire from international football and dedicate the last few seasons of his career to his club.

Anybody else hate international weeks. 2 weeks into the season ffs!! International football in the qualifying groups is slow boring and there are too many useless teams. Painful to watch

I agree. The abuse from dumb minded fans outside Chelsea for Frank is ridiculous. My only thing would be the more games he gets the better, as he does take time to warm up.

I've been saying Chelsea players should all retire for England for years, they get nothing from abuse from Engerland "supporters"

I wonder if the same thing will happen to the Man City players when they are on international duty, given that their circumstances are similar ?

Lamps needs to be taking a long look at himself both domestically & internationally - he is not the player he was

But then...he was some player - I hope he picks up in the weeks to come or AVB has the bollocks to drop him - either or...

Yep, only 22 goals and averaged over a goal every 4 games, nothing much, especially when you compare it to all the other England players that are world class performers and regularly standout <doh>

Ashley Cole's days are numbered too - it speaks volumes about Cole that Wales are choosing to use Bale on the right instead of putting him up against Smalling. Leighton Baines meanwhile is staking a huge claim for his spot

You are right. Lampard should retire, but not for the reasons you said. There are now younger, better players.

Football fans are far too partisan now, international football has become a chore.
    Its sad really.
It doesn't really matter what Lampard does or doesn't do for England.
Imagine he went out on his own against the entire Spain. He wins the game 20-1.
The reaction? He should have scored 30; Why doesn't he pass it; how could he have let that Spain goal in;and he was blatantly offside for his 14th
