I must admit that was the best individual performance I can recall against us. The way he orchestrated things made it look as though 10 man Man City had the extra player. I remember being in Polar Bear talking to another poster off here when some younger fans were moaning and groaning about the game we told them to shut up and just be grateful that they had just witnessed such a performance and sometimes you just had to admire someone even if they were on the other side.
One of the very few times I've had to fold my arms and give an appreciative nod towards an opposition player. He was unplayable that day. The **** him
The only other times with me were Colin Waldron for Burnley early1970s, Rodney Marsh who had done nothing for QPR and produced 2 moments of magic to defeat us and a young Trevor Francis. It was a night game and we were talking to some older Birminghan fans in East Stand (older then meant about 40ish which seemed like Methuselah in those days) who said they had only come to see the boy wonder. A 16 year old Trevor Francis came on as a sub and seemed to be off a different planet.
Silva and Lampard were the best two individual performances I've ever seen against us, both unplayable on the day.
Lampard was incredible in that game, he seemed to just jog around yet absolutely mullered everyone around him. Superb.
Same here. And in the European Cup Semi Final in1968 when he scored the only goal against Real Madrid. Saw him a couple of times when I lived in Leeds. Must have been 10,000 lasses there just to watch him.
Terry Neill was at fault for their goal and Sammy Morgan of the mighty Port Vale equalised in front of the South stand as I recall. I may be recalling wrongly.
Best individual performance I've seen (in person) against us: Ryan Williams for Chesterfield. Best player I've seen (in person) against us: Ronaldo for Man Utd
Must say Harold Kane MBE (but also carded for being a diving bastard last week) on his last appearance at the KCOM when we got a 1-7 drubbing off the Sperz struck me as the best attacker I've seen v City. Big, mobile, good feet, good in the air, shoots with venom low and accurate. Seemed to have no weaknesses.Constant threat Was also impressed with Rooney when he came to City not as a forward but as a midfielder bullying the opposition, picking great passes an rallying his own team mates. Media always bang on about his goals and tantrums, but that is a side they never seem to see. Extremely influential in that role. Saw Best 2 or 3 times at City and doat remember him as owt special on the day/evening.
I remember the Ryan williams performance! And was excited when we signed him and the other winger ( david Beresford? ) The same pre season.
