I'm sure he will, you just cannot criticise referees like that. He does need to stop and remind himself he is representing WFC before he deliberately makes controversial comments.

I don't agree that it was controversial it was a plain and simple truth. Why are referees not publicly charged with serious wrong decisions?

Seems that the manager is backing Troy. He was honest in his view of the carded tackles, and was simply repeating what I was saying about the ref. :emoticon-0105-wink:

To be fair, he accused the ref of bottling a red for both sides.

I see the FA are now asking him to explain his comments. He may well be correct in his assessment but it is not good for players to criticise refs on national tv.

If the referee does his job properly.... this guy didn't.
The blazers need to grow a pair and seriously look at their lot.

Well at least he said his piece in front of the guilty Bournemouth player, if they want players to be interviewed straight after on live TV what do they expect will happen?

All Troy will do is attract unwanted attention from the FA and enhance his carefully managed reputation as a free talking pundit. He already has one eye on his television career after his playing days are over.

  10. I am happy to defend Troy being so open and honest in his views but I am beginning to wonder if there are times when he needs to rein it in. I haven't done the forensics on refereeing decisions for and against us but having read what others have said about some games you have to start to think it isn't helping.

I have not seen MOTD yet but it refreshing that someone is prepared to air their own particular opinion instead of parroting what has been fed them by the PR mafia. Why should someone be censured for holding an opinion?

If criticism of the officials was freely allowed it would be impossible to know where to draw the line of acceptability. Insulting the ref would no doubt become extreme. I applaud free speech but feel the FA have it about right at the moment. Players also have to set a good example for children that mimic their footballing idols behaviour.

Where is Bobby Charlton when you need him?

TD should shut his gob at times like this and remember that he earns more per week than the highest paid Premiership referees do in a year.

I like Troy but totally agree with this, he is not helping WFC or football in general.

Criticism of referees is explicitly not allowed whilst doing the job over 90+ minutes. After the match the players are explicitly asked for their opinions... what do the FA blazers expect?
When TD9 opinion is proven to be wrong or unreasonable then, by all means, haul him over the coals. Where the comments are debatable then debate! Referees need to do better, and trust me, Coote had decent game but the criticism was merited. End of.

The trouble with the blazers is that all too often want to have their cake AND eat it.

Im not sure than can give him a ban but if they do i hope the club give him the highest fine they can ,I have talked with him 3 time (only 3 or 4 min each time) and he is a nice guy But give him a mic and his head doubles in size .Would any of the current top 10 want him us YES and poss Everton (if he was cheap) Then poss 5 or 6 down the bottom .i understand he is one of our top earners and good luck to him But most of our fans would like to see 1 or 2 of our forwards moved out and replaced with players that could put troys place up for grabs

I appreciate your point of view Brian and you have every right to hold it,, but on this occasion I have to agree with Fez. TD was asked for his opinion and gave an honest answer The FA should look into telling referees to face the press just as they insist on club representatives doing so

I appreciate that they have to deal with incidents seen in real time and may miss one or two incidents, but the two that TD spoke of were glaringly obvious, at least one of the three officials MUST have had a clear view of them both. The fact that the referee gave yellow cards for both would indicate that he had seen them both, a referee can only deal with what has been seen by one of the three officials, NOT with what he THINKS has happened

Troy should learn to put the club before himself. If the ref did 'bottle it' the most obvious miss was not to give Doucoure a red card. Did he want that to happen?

I would also add the probability is that Deeney has annoyed the majority of EPL referees by his rash comments. He is unlikely to get the benefit of the doubt from many for the rest of the season.

I don't think someone who has voiced an opinion that turns out to be wrong or unreasonable should be hauled over the coals - it is after all an opinion. In such instances an apology is all that is required, sorry I got it wrong.

If the club do not want players to voice their opinion on certain topics it should be part of their contract or choose who has to respond to largely stupid questions from the press/tv.
