Glamour tie at Accrington - likely trial run for satellite navigation systems for next seasons league game - we feel down.........! Have to confess I really couldn't give a toss about this game - just one thing I ask - either lose on the day or progress. So that brings me to my conclusion - we'll draw. We'll have a replay, and bloody draw ! 2-2. Well we cannot defend.............. As for a team, I've no idea what Lambert does re cups? Anyone know? We have a week until Rotherham so unless anyone feels groggy, no reason not to go full tilt and try to gain some bloody confidence, win with a full strength side out. That's actually made me laugh my head off, what is a full strength side!?
Shows how far we’ve fallen. I know it doesn’t mean much but bookmakers have us as the outsiders against Accrington
Mid table League 1 side against aside plummeting their way down through the championship.. It is possibly one of the more mundane cup ties of the 3rd round. There are only 12 league places between the sides after all. I think Lambert will make a couple of changes to the side. Bart, Elder, Dozzell and Jackson to start and we'll huff and puff and somehow go 2-0 up before ballsing it all up and drawing 2-2 conceding a later equalizer.. Plus we'll probably get someone injured just for good measure
This one will go to a replay. 1-1. Despite the shambolic FA Cup record we've had since 2010, and the pre-season excitement about actually getting a potential cup run this season, I'd happily lose this if we were guaranteed three points against Rotherham.
If we somehow manage to stay in the Championship, that will do us better for next season. Rotherham is a must win match, Accrington Stanley in the third round of the FA Cup is not, in my opinion.
That would be lovely but there’s no way it’s happening, so I think a good cup run is important to get everyone enjoying their football again.
Well it's very unlikely, agreed, but beating Rotherham will make our chances of avoiding the drop more likely. Beating Accrington Stanley and losing to Rotherham could all but confirm our relegation. Of course in an ideal world, we'd be winning both matches, but when's the last time we won two games in a row?
If we beat Accrington we'll probably get drawn away for Bristol City or Middlesboro in round 4 anyway, where we'll inevitably get beaten
I don't know what's worse - the fact it's been that long or my expectation that it would be even longer.
I think you have to try and win these cup games. People talk about resting players, but then you lose a fourth straight game and are on a downer going into the league game. Or maybe a first teamer scores a hat trick, keeps a clean sheet or saves a pen and gets a confidence boost. I think it's better to try to win. You just never know in the Cup what can happen.
