Forgot how fortunate city were with the cup fixtures. Had they got Chelsea or Tottenham for the two leg ties in January it would have tired them and possibly a tough FA cup game. Instead they have a simple January and can give the kids (if any are left) games
This has all the makings of a classic stale mate, everybody getting excited, the media bigging it up as a massive showdown. I think both clubs would take a draw here and now, from citys point of view 7 point isn't insurmountable but 10 points is huge. Same from our point of view 7 points is a nice gap, why risk it and be pulled back to only 4. I reckon it will be a cagey match very similar to the home affair, neither wants to lose more than wants to win.
^^^ agreed though with the proviso once a match starts plans can sometimes get lost in moment. This really is a "must not lose" rather than "must win" match & that applies to both teams in almost equal measure.
Gotcha Spuds for the title I think that could happen someone mentioned the three card trick ? Earlier Defo watch the queen ....
Unbelievably I’m a no I want the win Think we need the win tbh I think the top six mini leaguewill be vital this season
Its just one of those games I think I will struggle to enjoy. If i had a heart condition, tomorrow is the day I would find out.
See, to me that's an attitude the players really must avoid. Psychologically that puts you on the back foot.
I think the fact city have the more recent history of winning titles, if they win they’re only 4 points behind and they’re at home that prob make them favourites. If we draw or beat then then that would dramatically change though.
I hope our mindset is right, win lose or draw we need to react right after the game into the next league game. Could be easy to get carried away or be worried by our first defeat
I'm sure the players automatically understand this anyway but i'm sure JK is not saying that in those terms but more reminding players to check their position on the pitch in relation to the other players i.e. only 1 FB pushed up most of the time. This works both ways though so he will be also reminding them to pounce as a group if City dawdle on the ball in their last 3rd of the pitch.
Draw no good for us,it’s a must win for me Should be the first time this season that David Silva DeBruyne & Fernandinho all start Both full back positions are our weakness so I expect the 2 quick wide players Sane & Stirling to start with a view to doubling up on Salah/Mane Should be a cracker, comfortably the 2 best sides Ederson Walker Stones Laporte Fernandinho DeBruyne SilvaB SilvaD Sterling Aguero Sane
A draw favours us more than City. Gap remains same but time to close it down becomes 1 game less. Sure, we don't want to lose ground to Spurs, but honestly, I don't really consider them our biggest threat. Don't want to underestimate them, but City is still the biggest danger and will be even if we beat them Thursday.
