Anyone use slow cookers?

Gonna but a one man 1.5l one so I can cook decent meals while at work and not have to buy meals all the time.

Any recommendations and recipes?

Thanks guise.

Fry the joint to seal it before putting it in.

Perfect way to do a joint of pork or lamb. Beef seems to come out too dry. Chicken is okay, put the bird in upside down with shallots and carrots.

Got one two years ago, only really used it in winter for some reason.

Get some chicken, hoy in a tin of coconut milk, leave for 8 hours..

Take it out, place nicely on a plate with some coconut rice...

Decide it's ****, hoy in the bin and order a pizza.

Last resort to have to brown stuff off, although I see why obviously.

I want to an able to chuck a load of ingredients in it at work in the morning so it's ready eat after work.

Tel's getting the picture, simple stuff that's not just a ready meal.

It may actually require a bit of work to get the best out of your slow cooker.

If you can't be arsed at all, and are the sort of person who tried granulated instant tea because tea bags were hard work, by all means get a ready meal. Remember to remove all packaging before you eat it <ok>

Haven't got an oven mate, hence the slow cooker.

I work away in the week so want to be able to just have decent grub with fresh ingredients that's not microwaved.

I'm down with a casserole, no probs there!
Yeah mate nowt wrong with a casserole, this lot are obsessed with curries...

Spent some time with Chinese folk , Hong Kong based and was amazed how much food plays a role in their lives. Yet no fatty in sight

Think our relationship with food is all wrong

That's a lie. Plenty of fatties in Hong Kong. Also plenty of anorexics. Actually weird seeing so many people between the extremes

yeah, there's obese people everywhere, the % has been growing since the 70's when the US food industry started to use high fructose corn syrup and everyone followed suit; that **** is an addictive poison, and in everything for the $$$.
