Apologies if this has been done to death, but I don't get on here so much these days and might have missed the (presumably ongoing) conversation about Nige. Thing is, it seems only a few weeks since one or two on here were saying he should be sacked, and I got into an argument with them over this. I can't remember who it was, but I'm just wondering what their thoughts are now. I'd say my assertion at the time, that they were massive clown shoes, has been borne out. Yeah?
I called for him to be sacked when we leaked goals & was rock bottom of the league I’m very very pleased that he’s turned it around & proved me wrong. Well done Nige
3 or 4 bad results and he'll be the butt of all the jokes again and references to good warm ups. I confidently predicted at the start of the season that, while I like Nigel and thinks he was the best man we could get, the squad just wasn't good enough and we'd be relegated early and decisively. Once again this proves I know nothing about football. However, you can all rest assured it won't stop me commenting
He’s doing an excellent job. Don’t want him sacked. He’s irritating & a Blunt Scunt whatever the results.
I think it's good, and you're both good posters, when you can hold your hands up. Said it many times he's an easy target in a graham Taylor way. Bit nerdy, not one of the lads who'd fit in on a sky sports panel with the japesters like Merse. But knows more about football management than them all put together.
Opportune time to comment on the Allams managerial appointments, twats that they are, but Marko Silva and Mike Phelan are at Everton and Man Utd, Steve Bruce still in demand going to Wednesday, and Adkins comes more than good, where's Slutsky and is he doing OK too?
Their managerial appointments have all been excellent (even Phelan - he didn’t cut the mustard but it was right to give him a go). I wonder if — given all the sale talk is probably bollocks — whether now might be the time for them to step back from day-to-day stuff, appoint a Duffen-type chief exec who matches Adkins positivity, and let him or her get on with re-engaging fans without interference. Then reintroduce concessions, give away some tickets to schoolkids, and fill the KCom again. They might reap the benefits with another stint in the Premier League.
Must admit I have had serious doubts about Adkins and find his interview style almost as annoyingly church-wardenish as Kenny Jacket - not that this should make any difference when considering his results. On that point I can't argue with recent results and a more positive style of play. Log may it continue although, as we're such a long way from being promotable this season, I fully expect him to either get a better offer at the end of the season or to be dumped for a cheaper alternative if the current ****-wits are still ion charge.
I actually checked Slutsky's results yesterday and he is doing ok, not challenging at the top of the league, but safely in the top pack. That might be where the club is used to being though (not sure). Silva by the way is on a bad run with Everton and didn't impress people at Watford.
I hold my hands up, Reading and Sheff Utd both sacked him before this point, and I would have done same 6 weeks ago. Southamptonnand Scunny didn’t and he brought them success.
I know I’m not the first to have said it - but why does anyone give a **** what Adkins says in interviews? They are just stage managed nonsense anyway, and bear zero relation to the actual football. I think he’s done an admirable job. I think Elphick and Campbell have played a big part in our revival too, alongside the manager and coaching staff. Good role models.
I also didn't think it was working under Adkins but a lot of the recent success can be pinned on players at the beginning of the season not being fully match-fit, the team gelling, the defence being sorted out and us still having in Grosicki a player who is above his level. We certainly have quality, lightning wingers and included in that a local hero so everything is dandy If.... we had ambitious owners they might back up Adkins with a crack at the play-offs But we know they won't - they're bloody lucky that Adkins has got them out out jail by avoiding relegation on a shoestring They deserved to cock it up really But wouldn't now be an ideal time to sell? You're buying a club who will now be playing Championship almost for certain next season
Well if we're owning up to things we got wrong, I never imagined a chiropractor would be very effective. I stand corrected.
The other scenario is if the Allams sniff the playoffs (we aren't even in the playoff places yet) they might think there's a chance of them getting more premier league money.
