Call me a non-believer, a heretic, but I don't trust BBC Wales on this (see below). For a start, Everton's mascots pay nothing for the typical (yes typical, they are NOT comparing like for like here) matchday "package". The costed version is for two selected matches a season, and the charge is for coaching sessions and a party, which goes to the Everton charity. In terms of us, feel free if any of you know better to come in and support Mike Ashley, but I believe we do charge for the mascot day packages, but have disguised it through corporate hospitality packages. Ie, rich twats like Warm pouch pay for their nippers to play mascot as part of their £4000 table... Sure, we offer some free mascot places offered as prizes through competitions, but I feel this article by BBC Wales has cynically used this in it's data to basically admonish Swansea because they are having a slow news day. We definitely charged for the packages a couple of years ago, it was widely reported, and there is no way Lord Fatface would let a tasty revenue stream like that go... Unless he is tattooing the faces of the kids with Sports Direct logos instead of payment?
I dunno like. I wouldn't expect VIP tickets with backstage access to see a band to be given away for free, so why should it for football? These kids tend to get matchday tickets, a meal, meet all the players, a full kit etc etc. I think we still give ball boy/girl spots to local schools for free, so I am not too bothered, especially as I don't have kids! It's lovely for clubs that do it for free, but ultimately what I resent here is a chronic misrepresentation of the facts to serve BBC agenda.
I thought we'd be paying the mascots. What sort of kid would ruin their street cred being seen next to Perez or Diame
