@Royston Vasey the bottom of the barrel was touched when I had breakfast with you and @Clb74 #illdoanythingtogetabetpaid
@lardiman should be given a joint moderator's position here for his (much appreciated)help with the photos and his reasoned debate. Plus he could have some control on the destroying of thread titles which occur on a daily basis.
This was not very good. After recovering from the early shock of thinking the referee was our moderator, I settled down to watching this poor fayre I have passed this 'ground' hundreds of times on the train, it is next to the old Catford dog track. Once I saw that this game was scheduled for a Friday night, a cracking night for a game as the end of the week and you can also get a few beers in, what more can you ask for? Anyway, this fixture was a division two game in the Kent League. I do not normally step into division two games as I worry as to whether a programme is issued, on this occasion I did not need to worry as during the week I spoke to the secretary who kindly confirmed they were sold with the admission. Pheonix Sports reserves comfortably won the game after having missed a first half penalty, plus having to contend with the disruption of a pitch invader who kept shouting garbled messages of merry christmas(I kid you not), he passed me and my two chums and he was certainly on something. One of the Lewisham officials gave the attendance to somebody standing next to us who was from the Kent League, he gave the crowd as 98, this was laughable as there was never 50 there. Concessionary admission with programme £3 Bottle of Moretti £3.50 Tea £1 Total outlay £7.50
@baraettmattesvensson I like the sign in the stadium advising people not to bring any valuables with them. That’s Lewisham for you
Before I start, and making sure the welcher does not try and pull me up for manners, thank you Mr Lardiman for your time and willingness to put part of my miserable existence on this board. Crawley Down Gatwick play about 5 miles from Three Bridges, the village is very pleasant but apart from three shops there is very little else there. Crawley Down v Arundel was another game in the Sussex League, this is a great division to tick off as you get to see some wonderful places in Sussex and a lot of the time I get to pass through Brighton, on this occasion I did not, unlike today when I go to East Preston v Pagham. Crawley Down came from behind(to excuse the expression) to win 3-2, the winner was an absolute screamer of a free kick from 25 yards. A shame only 51 were there to witness it. £3 concession admission £2 programme £4.40 pre-match San Miguel in clubhouse £2.10 for two coffees Total outlay £11.50
Asked a postie if there were any pubs near Angmering station, he smiled and said I would need to get a taxi. With that I headed for the ground hoping their clubhouse had Sky so I could see the Auld Firm game. At least I got here earlier enough to claim one of the few remaining programmes, a decent read as well.
