"Jeff Beck: Still on the Run": Beeb4 documentary on @ midnight (Sunday 30th). Excellent. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0b0g902/jeff-beck-still-on-the-run
Never been a better Brit guitarist since his appearance. All the other Brit great guitarists have said it. Many from before his time have said it too. Just stupendous talent and innovation.
It is John...so long as you are hooked up to a VPN where you are. (Presume you're still in the far east ). Happy new year.
My favourite is still Peter Green though. Beck is my second. Mainly because I like blues and nobody had Peter Green's feeling or touch.
Well said Barca; I saw his first tour after his too long exile - he played Grimsby auditorium in 2000, his looks had gone, his voice had almost gone but he could still play ..... my favourite ever gig, but not for the usual reasons.
I'm with you on that ranking/preference. Early to mid/late '60s was a phenomenal time for Brit music. Graham Bond O. and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers were way up there too. Spent 7 years in Leeds over that era - Leeds University Student Union was amazing how many bands/ artists they managed to get to perform on Sat nights. Oct '67: Beck & Stewart...7/6d entry fee. Nov '67: P.G's. F.M... 7/6d. I didn't pay, was part of the entertainment committee. That's why I stayed for so long.
I'm sure many will have already watched it, but a decent documentary/drama was replayed tonight on BBC 4 for those interested in military history. "A Very British Deterrent" ...Trident...& Polaris https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b07v3vzz/a-very-british-deterrent
The BBC Storyville series is enlightening my knowledge of national and international events that I didn’t fully appreciate at the time. Last night I watched the two part documentary about David Koresch and the Waco siege. It still left us wondering who started the fire and brought out other considerations on how the FBI managed the situation. Were we aware of this at the time. Another one on tonight about John Currie, the ice skater examines his life on and off the ice.
