Wow, oh wow. End of the honeymoon. I think we all know Raplh has a limited squad. We won two games, slipped up against Hammers where our passing was off, he changed up the team against City, a match we were in for 45 minutes and now the knives are being inched out of the belt. Unbelievable. We need to have faith. I am convinced this guy knows what he is doing
You got me going now. I haven’t had a ***got for years. Not sure I’d want one now, gone right off them.
With the greatest respect, FTL, I think PEH's red card is a side issue. The real question is how a team supposedly rejuvenated by the new manager can have all it's good work undone and a baffling team selection and a series of performances by the outfield players that was as bad as anything we have seen in the last 18 months. I was not fan of Puel's cautious and unpredictable football but Ralph's selection and tactics today were recklessly cavalier. It seemed like the throw of the dice by someone who does not know what he is doing. To change formation after ten minutes was baffling to say the least. As for his proposed passion for pressing football and playing at tempo, the match resembled a leisurely kick around for Man City. 75% possession and three goals from opposition who did not have to go beyond second gear. There is now way today's perfomance can be defended.
I was really convinced to begin with TS but the public criticism of McCarthy say uneasy with me . I concur he has some very poor tools with which to do his job but I would be appreciative if you could explain to me why he left so many first choice players on the bench today and replaced them with inexperience. The only good thing I can say about this is that he now knows just how average most of his squad is. I will make it clear that I am not calling for his head but merely stating that I do not see him as a "New Poch" and think that today's performance was an incompetent as those produced by Pellgrino's teams. I don't think this is an unfair criticism. I like what Ralph has to say. He talks the talk. However, today's performance will come as a severe dent to the confidence of most Saints fans. It was woeful.
Sorry you are wrong. He was trying to get the ball. PEH is one of our few players who will leave it out there. As I said, it was a tackle that will be determined by a ref as a possible red and so it was.
Firstly Ian, I don’t think I’ve earned the greatest respect from you really, but thanks all the same. Secondly, I have no problem about today really (standing back from it all), as we played City and Ralph I believe used the game to rest some and have a look at some others. Some did ok, some were poor. It happens. This coach makes me feel confident for the future.
We have taken a good amount of points considering for December, Imagine how bad it could have been under Hughes. This month is definitely a steep learning curve for Ralph, Tho I believe with 1 or 2 players in Jan, And a clear out of other half arsed players it will cause a big lift. I'm not to worried.
McCarthy was the only decent player for Saints today. Without him it could have been a rugby score. What game were you watching ?
