GKN's mainly posting to his Instagram these days, although it does say a lot that he was posting a lot of stuff about us during the US tour but since then he's only been posting photos with his baby daughter and a few modelling shots As I (probably...) said at least once before, I don't think it's a coincidence that he was linked with a loan move to Saint-Etienne during the summer, but that deal went very quiet at the exact same time Anthony Georgiou picked up a lengthy injury. The timeline certainly seems to fit, with Georgiou only returning to U23 games in the last few weeks, so it may well be that he's known that he's not long for the club since August
No, you’re not imagining, he was stripped and ready to come on. They scored and Poch changed his mind.
cheers OS...was in the stand opposite and thought I must have miss seen it! Not sure why he didn't come on...a change was definitely needed at the time.
A CM really is all we’ve been needing since the summer. A DM would be great to help out Dier but seeing as Big Mouss can play a more defensive role if required (not forgetting Skipp either) it’s not as imperative as a CM. IF we can shift the deadwood (Dembele, Wanyama, GK, Janssen and Vorm) that should in theory raise around £30m, £40m if we’re lucky. That’s enough for one good CM. Berge is quoted at £22m, Rabiot would likely be £25m-£30m seeing as he has just 6 months left, Doucoure might be around £35m and then if the club goes back in for Grealish, he’d be about £25m-£30m. SMS, De Jong and Ndombele would be out of the equation if we had no other dough other than what we brought in but I can live with that. One CM changes the whole complexion for us, similar to what you’ve just said, it adds a whole new level of rotation that would keep players a lot fresher than what they are now. As for Nando, I’d also be peeved if we sell him but I’m equally as peeved at the moment that Poch isn’t selecting him. How has he not made the bench against Wolves when we’re massively depleted? We’re wasting him.
I think that he's either gone or on the verge of going. No way N'Koudou makes the 18 and he doesn't, otherwise.
I was going to suggest a small bid for David Button, having noticed that he was starting for Brighton yesterday. He's homegrown, club grown and would probably accept being down the pecking order. What happens? Clean sheet, win and MOTM! Fair play to him.
The only reason I think this one may have some credence is because it's PSG who we've done business with before and seem to have a decent relationship with in transfer terms.
I always thought he’d get chances when he was still here. Was highly regarded at the time, think he did actually get some minutes one time in a cup game as a sub. Doncaster away seems to ring a bell. Had about 15 loans too, was more well travelled than Townsend
The next 2 transfer windows are going to be difficult imho. Anyone we bring in in January is going to need time to acclimatise to the league unless we buy from another premier league club (or championship) in which case it'll be a huge fee. Toby is clearly going in the summer imo so we will need another CD to rotate with Vertongen, Sanchez and Foyth, I suspect we will have to sell Eriksen next summer as there is no sign of him signing a contract and he is entering his final 18 months of his current one. So we will urgently need a play maker. Selling clubs will demand a premium from us as they know we will be desperate. I honestly do not see any major signings in this window and think it will be used by the media, pundits and some of our fans to dig out Levy and claim it gives Pochettino a reason to leave. In my view we are miles ahead of where we were and like it or not, building a brand new ground means that we can not compete financially in the transfer market at the moment. The key to the summer window is us finishing in the CL positions...this is a fact of modern football that I do not like but unfortunately it is now the way of the footballing world
I think a lot depends on just how much dough we have for transfers, mate. I agree that CL is what is most important to the club right now, despite what us fans want. With that said, can we get top four without any additions this January? I’m not so sure. We’re already seeing fatigue creeping in to a number of players halfway into the season because they’ve been having to play 2, sometimes 3 times a week. I don’t know how we can get the money, I’m not savvy enough to talk in-depth about the financials of the club but one way or another, I think we have to find some dough to bring in at least one CM if we’re to secure a top four finish. Failing to add one or two faces, likely results in more fatigue creeping in, which then means that more results like yesterday will occur and that could ultimately cost us big time. Even with CL for next season, there’s a possibility we’re still set to lose Toby and maybe Eriksen. Without CL, we’ll definitely lose them and who knows who else may decide their time at the club is done. This is such a huge season for us, players don’t wait around forever and we’ve had most of this squad for four or five years now, how much longer are they going persist with being the nearly men before deciding they wanna shot at being the main men? As weird as it sounds, the new stadium has actually come at the worst time, if we were still at WHL with dough to spend, we could’ve done something special - just like what we may witness Liverpool do this season. In the past year they’ve added a much needed CB and GK (plus others) to an already strong squad, it makes you wonder what would’ve happened if we added a much needed CM plus one or two others to ours.
I know we are miles ahead of where we were...not sure that means we can lower our expectencies or let the standards we have reached to be taken with a shrug of our shoulders. We should be trying to reach the next level up. I still don't believe that we don't have money available considering the amount being pumped into all the PL clubs through various avenues plus if the stadium is a hindernce why were representatives of the club suggesting otherwise during the Summer? Is that ok to do? Why is that not a talking point? It's like whichever way Levy steers the ship we are supposed just kid our heads and say yeah...that's the best way. Pissed me off to the core that we are falling short due to the fact that we are not improving our squad. I wish Lewis sells up and ****s off. If he can buy a ****ing painting for 90 million yet not help us, one of his businesses...then he can get ****ed the tight fisted bastard. He bought a football club not a Supermarket. Like I say...get the stadium up and running and sell us to someone who will spend money on the team. No one is paying a Billion quid for something they don't have grand designs for. Keep Levy to do the maths...he loves the maths and Joe Lewis can **** off the tight ****er. He's got us all feeding off the 'we have never had it this good' mantra. Well we can have it better but not with Enic
There's also the credence that, with Barca having to issue a statement denying that they've been tapping-up Rabiot, PSG would likely be more than happy to sell him to us and tell Barca va te faire foutre
Lower League Rando Watch Since we haven't been linked with one for all of three days we're now being linked with Hull winger Jarrod Bowen, who does have a knack for scoring goals with 15 goals last season and 10 so far this, who obviously ticks the HG box and the £12m fee is certainly worth paying if it helps us balance our CL squad However, he mainly plays as a right winger, which is a position we're hardly starved for options in, so unless the plan is to spend half a season teaching him to play on the left wing he's obviously going to be a few spots down the pecking order from the outset
Why do you think Levy would have this attitude? Do you really think he is that stupid? It's much more likely that the team who wanted to buy the player in the first place are telling Levy that he is still worth a bundle...
I have it on good authority that he wants to leave having witnessed this ****, though: I know I would.
It’s not much more likely at all. Teams that are gonna come in for our deadwood are doing so because they believe they’re available at cut prices. Levy’s problem is he generally wants to make back at least what he paid. Which as I’ve said, isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it’s impossible to expect clubs to pay us what we paid for some of our flops. Player values depreciate with lack of game time/ poor performances, those who then come in for those types do so because they know - or at least believe - they can be got for a much cheaper price than what the selling club initially paid. You think if we have any potential buyers coming in for Janssen or GK, are doing so because they think they’re worth a bundle? Come off it.
