Well of course they won't recognise it, it isn't obvious to them that it's self deprecating! It was sincere the first time it was done, that's all you need really. It's fine, I'll just shrink into my seat with my head in my hands. You lot crack on.
He's gonna ask for a bit of money as Elphick's wages are now freed up, didn't sound optimistic he'll get it. Doesn't want to lose anybody, nobody has asked to leave. Takeover saga ongoing. Character. Belief. Positive attitudes.
Really pleased to see Will Keane do well, those plonkers on here knocking him then praising 'Nige' need to realise their man Nige got it right today. Credit where it's due. Can't knock a win v the White ****e so Nige has a free pass from me this week. Well done 'Nige'!
Hope you get good value from the few quid you saved by missing the game today. New pair of clown shoes perhaps.
Not really, but you don't want the one thing fans think of when you say "Hull City" to be that mess. It's as if Danny La Rue had been asked to create a chant for us. Ah well. We won. So we could sing Cher for all I care.
Tsk. Bitter even in victory. Get yourself a red nose to go with those clown shoes and treat yourself to a Vicar of Dibley DVD.
Last season it was Fulham and I think Colin took Cardiff on a decent run the season before when they were near the bottom. All the signs seem to point towards it maybe being us who can gatecrash the top 6, just a shame we have the 2 cockwombles we have as owners which will probably undermine said charge.
Also, great result today. Would have been delighted with a point today but to get all 3 after a composed performance is fantastic. 1 defeat in 11 and 5 wins from the last 6. You'd have been directed to the funny farm if you said that would be our run of form to end the year after those defeats at Wigan and Reading.
Is sarcasm or irony ever explicitly framed? That sounds like a very weak sort of comedy to me. It's always been a daft ironic thing. To think it's ever been a genuine attempt to frighten opposing supporters by pretending to be Tigers is absurd. To be honest, it's only since we did it at Arsenal in the Premier League that it became a stick to beat us with. Throughout our ascent of the football league everyone coped, but we did it at Arsenal and the soulless, trendy Premier League fans, no more evident than at Arsenal, couldn't get their heads around it. Now it's the staple of Arsenal/Leeds type fans to mock us for it. The Soccer AM type of fan if you will. No need to worry about what they think.
One thing I love about our glorious city and people is that we do not give a **** about what anyone else thinks about us. The camp actions are absolutely a vital element of this chant.
Fair enough. I think the chant is great, as has been said, it's unique. I just think an ironic hand chant is lost in terms of a football match, they need to be clear. If you start trying to be complex and sarcastic, it gets lost on most fans. I just think it looks ****, but then I'm just one bloke. I'll just not do it.
Judging by the way the citizens of Hull and the local media go into a meltdown if anyone is anything less than fulsome about the city, I would dispute that.
