I'm just about to start setting up my just purchased BOSE homespeaker 500 .

Loved the SONOS PLAY5 ,

but

A- The sonos is wi-fi only , and with our dodgy wi-fi , that's a big problem .

B- It's just overkill for the room we want it for .

 

Haven’t been there in years. Don’t remember it as being anything spectacular.

Except they did seem to possess a good supply of accommodating females!

 

There's no such thing as overkill for speakers. It's like having a powerful car, it doesn't need to work as hard to get the same performance as something less powerful. But it's all there in reserve when you need to crank it.
