Kinnear has said last week, Orta has said it and importantly Bielsa has said it. If a player comes in he needs to be better than what we have already. He needs to be able to hit the ground running and improve the team as we dont have time to retrain a player. This is why I believe if someone comes in it willl be a player who has played under Bielsa or in a system similar like Pochetino’s or Peps or Klopps or a coach doing it abroad
I think Bielsa telling Kinnear that is his way of saying he has enough Roberts Harrison brown experiments/waste of wages and he wants quality signings. That’s what we all want to push us over the line
I agree 100%, it reminds me of when Monk wanted a new right back and the stories of how he turned down the first 2-3 players he was offered for the position and he challenged them to find better and then we got Ayling. I think Bielsa is politely warning the board that he doesn't want anyone who is on par with what we have, they need to be better or don't bother. As all the signings have to be okayed by Bielsa I can imagine the concerned look on Ortas face if he dared hand over footage of someone not up to standard.
Benitez leaves or fat man leaves and sells the club. My son-in-law is a geordie and he says he didn't want to get rid of Gayle but was told if he wanted a new striker he had to let one go either on loan or sale. Gayle will always score goals in this league and will score some in the prem, so going to be fun at Newcastle because i see bentiez about to explode and walk into a top job
I think now, or to date, Bielsa has increased his power over Orta regarding who comes in and who doesn't; and that's how it should be. If Bielsa says "I want such and such" Orta and Radz will move Heaven and Earth to get him.
You know I would really like to believe this is true, a bit like it would be great if there really was a father Christmas. I suspect it's more a case of Bielsa asking to get a particular player, Orta finding out what a possible deal would be and then Radz choking on his ravioli and the process starting again. I don't blame anybody for this it's just the way of the world.
I get your point Eccers, but right now, I can't see Orta or Radz arguing too much. I doubt Bielsa is going to ask for someone in the 20 to 30 mil bracket just yet.
