A point at home against Brentford is not what is needed to move up the table, even though we did, and I think there are way too many good teams for us to move even further. To say we are average is stretching a point.
I had a feeling that would happen. We just can’t perform at home for some reason - or against the struggling sides. Confidence maybe? I suppose a point keeps our unbeaten run going - and a draw when playing badly is good - I suppose. We need to beat Rotherham now to boost our confidence and set ourselves up for the new year.
We never deserved a point from that,Brentford better passing side. Home form is a major concern. Sign Neal Maupay in Jan that would be a cracking bit of business.
Why can’t we turn it on at home? Are the players afraid of the home crowd getting on their backs? We played ok against Stoke and Norwich I suppose but most home performances have been ‘meh’ at best.
Our performances at Ashton Gate have been dismal for years and I am lost for reasons to explain why that is the case. It will be interesting to see if anyone at Bristol City is thinking that some good spending in the upcoming transfer window could get us towards the playoffs, but I have my doubts that this time will be any different. It appears that apathy is the only thing doing well down in BS3. Happy New Year to one and all.
We have drawn 4 of our last 5 matches after being in the lead in all of them. Clearly there is a problem in keeping ahead of our opposition and if we could have used those leads to gain say another 4 or 5 points we may have been in with a chance of the playoffs. Looking back over the seasons under Lee our spotty, and sometimes shocking form, has been our achilles heel and it makes me wonder whether any attempt to rectify those deficiencies will be addressed in the upcoming window. New Year's question for me is whether it is the owner, manager or the players? Same old questions for the same old problems.
I don't think many expected to much from DEC AS THE NEGGIES WERE SHARPENING THEIR BLADES IN NOVEMBER! However I did along with sSquasher forcast 11 points in Dec [ but before any games had been played in AUGUST] I think it would have been different should we have forcast say in October or November the December total .. I was looking back then at about 7 points for Dec: With a game to go that is what we have! ..... A point from NORWICH and DERBY considering is a good result, poor result is we should have took 3 from BRENTFORD, I think our steamroller effect was over come by a bigger steamroller!!!!! .... 3 points Saturday and I will go out of 2018 on a little bit of an upper ... in general all round 2018 has been the worst year for me ever ..... ANNUS HORRIBILUS in the biggest way
It’s frustrating and a bit boring perhaps, but horrible it’s NOT in my book. We have come a long way if we are now bored and pissed off with mid table Championship!!!
