Despite 'sources close to MP' telling the most disreputable journalists his inner most thoughts about being desperate to depart Tottenham for the Xanadu that is Manchester United, the truth is very different. From the man himself...(interview on Sky Sports)...

"On the football side, all that we are building here will be in the same level. When you add and mix it all together it is going to be the time to win titles and deliver what the people expect.

"We still have not won a trophy, but I think we have won more than that, because after four-and-a-half-years' work together, to have a contract for another four-and-a-half years is a massive achievement in the current climate. To create that is a massive achievement for us.

"The platform that we have created here in Tottenham is the most important, the platform we created between all the coaching staff - in the academy and the first team. The platform we created is more important than one person.

"It's a very dynamic situation, football is so dynamic. The platform always improves players and the team. That platform is always changing because you always have to improve in football, you are learning in the same process.

"That is important for the club to sustain and maintain the ideas in the way that you work."

Stood shoulder to shoulder alongside Pochettino during his tenure has been Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

For Pochettino, the relationship built on respect, discussion and compromise continues to serve all parties and the club well.

"I speak to him a lot, we talk a lot, we have very good communication," Pochettino added. "We don't always agree but, of course, that is normal.

"He is a person with a lot of experience managing this type of project and we are football people trying to advise on the decision on football.

"That means sometimes we agree and sometimes we don't agree. But after, when the decision is made, we are so strong in the delivery of it which shows it is best for the club"

"Many, many things happen in a football club, we are in contact nearly every day. On one side I listen more and agree with him, on another side he must agree with me in some decisions.

"But, always, we try to reach a compromise. He has one view, we have another. We are on different levels, of course he is my boss and then I need to respect him.

"At some point I need to convince him but when he wants to do something, because he's the boss, he doesn't need to convince me.

"Sometimes it looks like the board and the chairman are the worst enemy of the manager and the coaching staff, the football versus the financial side.

"But the relationship is good and we always try to make the best decision for the club."

".....Oh and I'm going to **** this all off asap for a few quid up in Manchester....just ask Merse or Spit The Scouse Dog..."<laugh>

Despite the massive evidence to the contrary most fans still seem to think that running a football club is a trivial job which they are well qualified to have an opinion on. As I've said before I am perfectly happy with people having an opinion provided they are humble enough to recognise that it is unlikely to be right in comparison with the well thought through plans of Levy and Pochettino.

The other error is to think that improved versions of Levy and Pochettino are available that do all the good things but don't make mistakes. Also untrue. All humans make mistakes. We've got a leadership team at the club who make a lot fewer than most.

Pochettino is a very rare man and well done to Levy for spotting that.

Love that. Particularly how he answered certain questions indirectly, when the answer was none of the interviewers business. <laugh>

It's funny hearing pundits say that a "contract means nothing", when to Pochettino clearly it means a lot.

When he was in the 'eye of the storm' over the Madrid job, a Sky reporter said something like...

"This has to be a job too good to turn down?"

    MP's response....

"For you....but then you are not me."

It is ridiculous of the pundits and hacks to presume that MP and DL didn't consider this moment when his contract was extended. United can employ a number of managers and it won't make that much difference to them. MP departing would do untold damage to our 'project' at a critical time. MP knows this. It may be in his contract although I prefer to believe that MP has pledged to see through his 5 year deal, unless DL gives his permission to do otherwise. With MP, I'm sure that his word is good enough for DL. That's the mark of the relationship and MP's respect for our club. If he has given his word that's good enough for me.

Excellent point. Highlights the fact that despite the rivalry, they still have respect for eachother and the 'heratiage' and 'status' of that club.

They would want to compete with the best Liverpool possible. Unfortunately, they all have a superiority complex with Spurs.

Would Man U be too big to turm down for Klopp? Pep? Emery? Apparently not, but Spurs... We aren't about to win anything in the near future are we?

Truth is, they are jealous. Jealous of our current story. Jealous of the significance we now have to Enlglish football with the growing contribution we make to the national team. They can't stand the idea of sharing power with us. They want to see our little uprising come to an end to make them feel better, and to reclaim what they once had when the English core came from their precious 'top four' clubs.

"(I)f you look around realistically at the moment, it's a funny situation as Spurs are 13 points clear of United in the table and in a better position than their rivals up north. For me, I want Solskjaer to stay at United and Pochettino to stay at Spurs. Both guys are young and in a good place right now." - Dimitar Berbatov

He played for both, the hacks should listen to him.

    They won't, obviously...
