Is everyone bored of this now? Can we just drop it and talk about the match from now on? I am not going to change anything in my article, so we could either argue a point that has no chance of being resolved, or we could just talk about the football. Truce?
Guys, lets just agree to differ. I didn't like what Leeeeon said but he isn't going to change and neither is ITIWRAN so no point in continued tit for tat. Time to move on and focus on supporting Wales tonight. Anyone going (better leave now) or know someone who is going? I don't know anyone. I was asked to go after the game on Friday - but couldn't give up my weekend and 2 days work!!!!
I can't go either. It's too difficult to get to Wembley and back on a weekday evening, and most people can't afford to miss work the next morning. I really think there should be a national holiday when Wales play England, especially on a week night!
ITIWRAN & SCOTTSWAN! Lads, seriously, there is a thread dedicated for intercity bickering all set up for you. This is one thread where you should be overlooking things such as Craig's reputation in the press and Joe Allen's dwarfism to unite against the germanic/Nordic/French/Roman/etc mongrels that constantly try (and fail) to put us humble inhabitants of God's own country (yes I know at present I live among the infidels but my heart never left Rumney) and take the fight to our eternal oppressors that live In the **** bit next to Our Beloved Cymru Boys for the sake of the land of Our fathers just let it ****ing go.
Be so tough tonight, but Wales just have to take the game to them. Be in the faces!! Easy to say of course, but there's nothing to lose, because if we don't, I fear we could get pummelled!! We've lost two of our better players, that's a big loss, but no looking back, sent them out with pride Speed!! Be made up if we get a draw, orgasmic if we sneaked it, but will take a narrow defeat now..... Apparently 1200 Welsh fans will be there tonight. Just shame we weren't further along with our development & not taken a full allocation....
What's this about our development and not taking a full allocation? I've not heard anything about this before. Do you know why we haven't taken our full allocation?
I'm a little optimistic if truth be told. Probably our best chance of sneaking a point in a while against the "old enemy". We've some decent players in our squad, and it really is a shame Bellers can't play as he is, Bale aside, our best player. Having said that, I really fancy Bale to shine, Micah Richards is out isn't he? Who's going to be playing right back, Smalling again? Bale will tear him to pieces! The allocation thing is probably due to it being a school night? Having said that you'd think there would be a fair few Welsh in London who'd fancy it!
That's my opinion, about our development!! We've got a relatively young team, with at least a competing U21's set-up below. So a supply of youngsters will maybe continue to develop & keep feeding the 1st team!! We're also hopefully turning a corner now with our fortunes on the pitch & the results might improve. Getting us up the rankings & possibly more able to compete with the likes of England, on a more level playing field, so to speak!! That way, the numbers turning up for the matches should increase!! We've sold, apparently, only 15% or our allocation (7,000). Shame, especially with the first contest at the new Wembley.....
I'd be very surprised if we have only taken that amount but I suppose most folk don't expect anything other than a hiding and with it being on TV it is far more palatable to take a hiding within easy reach of the cold beers in the fridge than stuck in amongst the great unwashed of Ingerlund... However, should we "shock the world" and get a result then those travelling faithful will be in heaven! saying that I'd imagine it would be like a scene from the Warriors with all the Welsh trying to make it back safe to their own turf should we turn them over!!!
"However, should we "shock the world" and get a result then those travelling faithful will be in heaven!" Thinking we'd be shocking Wales itself!!!! Couldn't agree more, indeed, we would be in heaven!! C'mon Wales.......................
Got a bit confused then. When you said development, I thought you meant a building development! Yeah, it is a shame we are not further down the line with our development, because that definitely affects attendances. Hopefully, a few good results will encourage new fans, and we will be filling the millennium again!
You're right Brizzle, last time we beat them at Wemberley in 1977 (1 - 0, Leighton James penalty) they were using flag poles as spears and it all got a bit unpleasant. 34 years on I doubt it will change much should we win. Actually I'm feeling guilty about not going now although getting back from cup games at Ar5ena1 and Chelsea are a doddle compared to Wembley - probably wouldn't get home unitl 2 or 3 in the morning - so it will be feet up in front of the Tv and a nice bottle of red.
No probs dude!! I have to read posts a few times before the point sinks in at the best of times!!!! Blue, Me too!! Wish I was going to be there now......
why should people fork out between £35 - £65 i believe, in a game where lets be honest we wont win? if people wont pay £15 to see us at home what chance do they have?
I can never get tickets for England games, I tried to get some for the game in Cardiff but nope none on general sale, or could of wasted £100+, no thanks
You're right Swamp in fact when you take into account travel and refreshment cost there is little change from £100 per head for the lowest price ticket but with a little encouragement like last Friday, hopes rise and so does pocket depth. I appreciate that may be easy for me to say but many others would find it hard to come up with that sort of money. There was a major discussion on Talksport as I was driving home yesterday as, at that time, around 15,000 home tickets remained unsold. A lot of northerners would like to have gone but as the last train for Manchester leaves Euston at 10.00 pm, anyone travelling by that means would have to leave the game at half time or earlier to catch the train. Well done whatever rail company provides that service - NOT. Opinion was split between southerners saying Wembley is the home of English football (they would say that wouldn't they) and anyone north of Watford Gap who said "Wembley or its equivalent" should have been built around Birmingham or the England team should get on the road and play their games all over the country thus enabling the whole fan base to have their turn at supporting the team. Some of you will say "So what, what's that got to do with Wales?" but while we are talking about our reduced support tonight, it appears there are issues which also detract from the level of English support as well.
Interesting you should bring that up, as I only recently noticed that the Switzerland qualifier is to be played at the Liberty Stadium. I think if qualifiers were to be played around the country (for England) it would help boost fan numbers, especially in terms of young kids watching the international team.
