Remember that time Leeds got promoted to the Premier League in 2008 and all those fans told us they were better than us? Then we came down two years later and they said "well we're definitely going to finish above you now." And then they got promoted three seasons later and stayed up? Then they got to an FA Cup final despite being heavily unfancied? Then that time Leeds went back down, then went back up again, all the while we struggled to get any consistency while floating mid table in the Championship/lounging around in League 1? You don't remember? Oh. That's right. It wasn't Leeds, was it? No. Somehow, despite being such a huge club with a huge ground, they didn't do that, did they? No. They like to point out the glory days of the 90s and early 2000s, where they still couldn't hold a candle to the likes of Manchester United. So, well done, you're brilliant at being mediocre. From all of us here at Hull City, we hope your cock falls off. Ta-ta.
After watching these highlights today, and the full game on the ESPN channel yesterday, I am absolutely staggered at some of the negative comments about Grosickis performance on the MOM thread. He made some brilliant runs from deep, was dangerous whenever he got the ball, and turned their defenders inside out with his speed. He and Bowen were a constant threat on the wings, and the two of them have contributed to virtually all our goals in recent weeks. If we lose them both, and Elphick, in January we'll be a considerably weaker side.
Chris Martin: Pros: Wins penalties, wins headers, looks genuinely gutted he isn't as good as he used to be, makes people laugh, isn't Will Keane. Cons: Lacks a predatory instinct, the pace of a walrus crawling through concrete, doesn't appear to always know which bit of the pitch he is on, couldn't anticipate 7 o clock at half six.
Agree with most of that, but wins headers? Nah, not having that, he just raises his shoulders a bit then falls over.
The one for me (think it was against Forest) was the one he challenged for, it went up into the air, he span round twice, the ball landed and he quizzically looked around to see where it had gone. He was doomed from that moment.
I don't think he's a scapegoat, he hasn't been the reason for us losing any games. I just don't think some people think he's very good. I haven't been that impressed, but I know how good he's been elsewhere, so I'm hoping he suddenly turns it on. Hope springs eternal.
1 in 3 for derby and Fulham. He can do it. I've not looked are they predominantly headers? When d o we get crosses in the box. Maybe Adkins didn't expect Campbell to be as good as he has been this season and the team are now set up for Campbell when he was going to play a martin type player.
Interesting point. We don't seem to rely as much on crosses to heads as we did under SB. Our crosses are more driven, maybe that suits Campbell better. But then that'd be up to the team to change their style once Martin comes on. In this video he scores all sorts, decent free kick on him too. Might just be a confidence thing.
