Maybe it does not change. But maybe that's by re-engaging more with Younsfters. Give all schools in Ferriby free tickets to games. Get games on for school boys before and after on the pitch. Maybe a special offer when International breaks are on for City fans. So many other ways to do it. My new local club Altrincham FC are having tons of school parties, in the party bags are free tickets to the next game. So many better ways than changing the name and moving location!
Yes I agree , I don't mean they have to change name or move ground but they have to do something carrying on as they are doesn't seem a viable option If people care about the club they need to do something
It managed to exist operating on a budget well below its level. But football has changed, costs have gone up. It now can't manage. I imagine Ferriby will be gone in a few years, the next highest West Hull village in the area on the pyramid is South Cave and they don't even play at a ground. Suppose there's West Ella and Willerby, but I'm sure they play in the same division.
Bloody hell, I use to play for South Cave.Ferriby have over achieved for many years to be fair. Nationally, not many villages of that size have what they have. Sad when that comes to an end, but it can't last forever. I know nothing about him but suspect Les Hare put a lot of his own money in?
Les did, but he never had to put a lot in anyway. Back in the Hare days, many players played for an appearance fee and others were on part time contracts for about £150 a week. It wasn't until the Forsters took over that they started offering full time and part time contracts to everybody to attract players. By the time they were in the national league, they were paying the likes of Simon Russell and Stephen Brogan £500 a week. That'll do it.
Bruk-Bet Termalica are from the village of Nieciecza, population 750. The smallest location for a top flight team in Europe ever. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nieciecza
This is the Peter Winkleman argument: that rather than ceasing to exist (or dramatically scaling down) a club should be allowed to up sticks and undergo a complete lobotomy in order to 'continue'. Personally I think it's a poor argument. If North Ferriby's level is where they are now, then so be it. Just as the old Wimbledon should have seen nature take its course and Winkleman should have bought the non-league Milton Keynes side that existed and developed them into a league side (plenty have done similar), if Waltham and his mate want something other than North Ferriby then they should have started their own team or looked to buy someone else whose profile fitted what they were after. Football in this country is, rightly, a meritocracy and this sort of thing jars with that. Admittedly the North Ferriby example isn't as extreme as the MK Dons one but there are parallels there that make me uncomfortable.
Absolutely. I suppose Waltham attempted to start his own (Hull United) and failed miserably? Ferriby is plan B? I must say it is a superb facilty at Dunswell, his business plan all along was probably to get a decent level of football there.
Signatures have passed 6,000 and I just noticed Against League 3 on Twitter have taken up the cause, so expect it to hit 10,000 shortly.
Looks great He ought to do what is needed to get football there...without stealing it from somewhere else
Read half of it. Seems fair enough. Easy to naturally oppose it given our predicament but this is actually progressive.
Whatever... If the case for having a club where you want it is so good then start one. With the massive interest caused by the bus route you’ll be rattling up the leagues. That will prove your case for East Hull Rovers or whatever they’d be called is a strong one Or just bugger off
