Seriously. I haven't been Old Ralph's biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination, but it was an inspired choice. Would have been so easy to play it safe, to go for experience or someone with a reputation for solidifying defenses. Also says something about New Ralph's self-confidence that he didn't exactly play it safe, either. He wasn't lacking options for clubs interested in his services, but he wanted to manage in the Premier League, a Premier League club wanted him, so he cut short his sabbatical in order to take over a side that had been in utter disarray for nearly a year and a half. Most in-demand managers would -- totally logically -- stay away, because narrative matters to your career, and jumping into English football and getting relegated (even if performances improved) would be an indelible black mark. Didn't matter to Hasenhuttl, because he wasn't getting relegated.

Redmond's a gambler, and gamblers, as Lemme famously said, always lose. But when they take a punt and it comes off, it's a joy. Redmond will always give the ball away or run into a dead end in games, but only because he is trying things others wouldn't.
I didnt expect us to win this, i thought it would be too much to hope we could turn things around so quickly but this guy has transformed us. Extraordinary.

As he’s been severely roasted in recent weeks just like to say how well I thought Vestergarrd played today. Yea he got caught out once when he reacted a tad slow but overall he was massively improved on recent weeks. Came out with the ball a few times skipping past players and created two good chances. Won majority of his headers and put in a few good blocks. He still has a way to go to convince people I’m sure but on the whole fair play to the guy , he done well today IMO atleast.

Agreed. I don't dislike Redmond at all; he's just a player who will only really enjoy success if placed in the right positions. He isn't Mane, with impeccable close control and the ability to wriggle through small spaces. He won't always pick the right option. But in space, your margin for error increases dramatically, you have fewer variables to account for, you have the defense on its heels rather than set. Redmond's a direct player, and one that thrives in space, and tends to wilt in traffic. Hasenhuttl seems to have told Redmond to go find space. He was making more direct runs with the ball from the start of the year; now he's making more direct runs without it, as well. As soon as we retake possession up-field, he starts sprinting. Jay Rodriguez was similar in that regard under Poch; he was one of the league's leading scorers largely because he was always going in the right direction. Redmond isn't going to bag 15, but I'd expect that he'll be a far more regular provider of goals and assists now.
