Wolves was able to hold city and Arsenal and beat Chelsea.Well done.

 

And also - this is the role Hendo should be playing now! Really good performance from him. He’s so much better when he’s not the number 6.

Both Gini and Hendo play a lot better with Fabinho sitting deepest.

as the deepest player he plays too safe however as the right side of a 3 he obviously feels able to be far more progressive.
On Fabinho whilst protecting the defence his first thought is "forward" now while that on occasion will lead to chances it increases the speed of the turnover of possession which increases the chance of the front 3 having space to operate in.

PS couldn't care less how quick Fabinho is as long as his positioning is good after all i don't remember Claude Makelele leaving vapour trails behind him.

 

Fab also protects the ball really well. You see when he takes the ball under pressure he takes it away from the player and puts his body between them and the ball

 

Hamann used to do that all the time. He'd invite men onto him and just turn and shield the ball with his body. Either play away from the opponent or win a free kick as he tries to go through to get the ball.
Didi wasn't blessed with blistering pace either.

Best game or not, Firmino is essential to the way we play.

He only as a poor game on the ball, he's always superb off it.
