It’s bloody fantastic news. This is just what we need. Toby and Eriksen next please, followed by a top quality CM in the transfer window. Happy days.
The Times are reporting that Pochettino wants to be considered for the Man United job and that it would cost around £34m to get him. Link to the full article: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/mauricio-pochettino-wants-united-job-but-would-cost-34m-ct7z9tj60 I have to say. Putting club rivalry aside, and assuming there is any truth to that article, this wouldn't be a good move for Poch (right now). Your team are playing good football. Your best players are on long term contracts. You are 3rd in the league. You're through to the KO stages of the Champions League. Your new stadium has just been unveiled. It's a happy camp. And as much as I hate to admit it, he's done a fabulous job when you consider his net spend is minus £46m or whatever it is. Why risk all of that to go to a club who are in disarray at the moment, miles off the top 4, unstable players, unbalanced squad, big name signings keen to leave and a board who don't know left from right? Logically speaking, it would be a terrible move when you look at where both clubs are. Unfortunately, money does talk.
Nobody can be sure of the truth of that. Unless and Until he says it himself, it’s pure speculation. It’s a huge risk anyway. Nobody has succeeded at that job since Fergie left. Mourinho failed, LVG failed. If Poch fails, where does that leave him?...
Complete bilge. He may or may not be thinking about the job but the chance of any of these papers having the slightest insight at this point is less than zero. The idea that MP would give anything to a Hack is beyond ridiculous. He has nothing but disdain for the lot of them. Newspapers love stories about United. They're the biggest draw in town, so if you print a story about them, particularly something that their support wants to read, they sell more copy. The Express and Star will report any old **** as if it was fact and slap it on the back page. It's a business goldmine. The Times is not far behind. The funniest is The Manchester Evening News, they've previously reported stuff from Pochettino's agent, despite him never having had one! He may want to go, he may even do it (I don't think so, personally) but the chances of anyone in the media being ahead of the game on this is ridiculous
Rabiot Watch Dammit, I was in the middle of writing something suggesting that Rabiot's batshit mother/agent expecting her precious angel/client be paid €10m a year in salary might budge a little as the January window wears on...and then Le Parisien reported this morning that he's already agreeing terms with Barca The one positive of this is that she was expecting €10m a year salary, aka £170k a week - which, while that does fit into our wage structure, it would send ripples that would hit any negotiations with Eriksen or Alderweireld like a tsunami
Your man Emery seems to think that Poch is very happy at Tottenham and will be staying here. As the two are pretty good friends I'd tend to believe your man than a bunch of hack speculators.
Rabiot Watch Well the comments from PSG's sporting director Antero Henrique make for..."interesting" reading Madame Rabiot said that we received an offer this summer. This is true, we received a bid on the 29th August, 20 hours before the closure of the summer transfer window...It is simple, this means that Barcelona must have had an agreement with Rabiot before coming to discuss with us. You have to know that Barcelona’s offer was ridiculous. For us, the club, we were very surprised by this low offer. The offer was disrespectful for some of Rabiot’s standing. I insist, it is not possible to reach an agreement with a player like Adrien in 24 hours. So it is clear that Barcelona must have already had an agreement with Adrien. I have to make clear that from the moment we had found an agreement in principle to extend the player’s deal, his representative and the lawyers, without an explanation, stopped negotiations. I am sure that he has found an agreement with another club. When they stopped negotiations, it was clear for me that Adrien had a deal with another club. Could Rabiot leave this winter? He told me he doesn’t want to stay at PSG. Looks like Barca have the attitude that, if you pay the release clause for one of their players, they tap up one of yours so he joins them for nothing. Yeah, as false equivalencies go...
Sonny called up for South Korea for the Asian Cup in January. Could miss 4 games. He will leave directly after the manure game.
Wonderkid Watch With the contract of Milan's 18-year old right back Raoul Bellanova expiring at the end of the season, we've been linked with a January swoop I give it two weeks before I'm posting the tweet from Milan stating they've signed him to a long-term deal... Random Spitballing There's reports suggesting that Aleksandar Mitrovic is thinking of leaving Fulham as he claims he's felt "unsettled" since Slavisa Jokanovic was sacked. So, in the unlikely event another club hasn't already had a word in his shell-like, worth a punt? Maybe cash + Llorente/Janssen? He was linked with us before he joined Newcastle, after all
Something's occurred to me about Lyon's squad next summer: numerous clubs are circling as they seek to carve up their squad, with Tanguy Ndombele, Nabil Fekir and Houssem Aouar all being linked with moves away - which surely puts a dent in any chance of our signing Ndombele because, should Fekir and Aouar move on, not only will Lyon not need to sell but they wouldn't have any issues complying with Ligue 1's FFP rules until some point in the middle of the next decade, and that's before bringing up Ndombele and Aouar have both extended their contracts until 2023 in the last few months
Dembele Watch Belgian website (and fans of pawalls) DH are reporting that Moose wants to extend his contract with the club - but is insisting on an increase of the £80k a week he receives to do so. So with that in mind, here's a few suggestion of who we should consider as his replacement... Tanguy Ndombele Club: Lyon Contract until: 2023 Date of last contract extension: September 2018 (****!) Houssem Aouar Club: Lyon Contract until: 2023 Date of last contract extension: July 2018 (****!) Sergej Milinkovic-Savic Club: Lazio Contract until: 2023 Date of last contract extension: October 2018 (****!) Kerem Demirbay Club: Hoffenheim Contract until: 2022 Date of last contract extension: April 2018 (****!) Frenkie De Jong Club: Ajax Contract until: 2022 Date of last contract extension: December 2017 Florian Neuhaus Club: A German Team Contract until: 2022 Date of last contract extension: July 2017 Stanislav Lobotka Club: Celta Vigo Contract until: 2023 Date of last contract extension: February 2018, but with a €35m release clause Youri Tielemans Club: Monaco Contract until: 2022 Date of last contract extension: July 2017 Sander Berge Club: Genk Contract until: 2021 Date of last contract extension: January 2017 ...bugger.
Stories that we’re taking with Mats Hummel’s agent. He’s never been the quickest thing on two legs. I’m not so sure about this one!
SMS is the dream but I think it’ll remain just that. I think the most realistic right now would be Tielemans and/ or Berge. As for Dembele, gotta feel for him, probably only wants to stay because no one likely wants him at the moment what with his injuries but he’s mad if he thinks he’s deserving of a rise.
If we're talking with his agent that could mean... *checks his agent's other clients* ...yup, either we're talking about Hummels, or Saltypool fans are going to be livid when they hear we're talking about bringing in their manager
