Do people support the other home nations in major tournaments if your own team doesn't qualify? Do you support the others even if you do? I never support England but at the same time I'm not one of those people who buy Anyone But England t-shirts. I don't support them because I still see them as our traditional rivals. Also, the English media is so ****ing annoying you end up hoping England get knocked out just to get a break from it! I realise I write this in the sad knowledge that Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland (and RoI) don't seem to qualify for major tournaments any more but let's just imagine for the sake of argument that they do.
Why would I support a foreign country? I like to watch spain play but i watch their games as a neutral rather than hoping one side wins. England play terrible football and the commentators are unbearable, Wales and The Irish teams are not much better, and before any of you Nigel ****s try and act like the smart arse, Scotland also play terrible football but i always watch them even when i know they are going to get ****ed.
Dont support anyone else as such. KNowing more of their players i would prefer they went far as there is more interest in watching. Living in England i get a bit pissed off that the media build the nation into a frenzy at their world class side (thats not actually world class) simply to set them up for the inevitable fall so they can bash them.
I end up picking one of the underdogs at the Major tourneys like in every sport. Consequently my life is one big complete disappointment. So no I won't be backing England.
International football bores me. Actually the whole qualifying process bores me, I do love the Euros and the World Cup. I support Northern Ireland, but seeing as they are never in tournaments anymore I follow the Dutch. Don't mind watching England & Scotland in tournaments.
The English, the English, the English are best, and I don't give a damn for all of the rest. That said, I quite like to see the Taffs do well at rugby, though not against us, obviously. I think that's because my first pair of rugby boots at school had Barry Johns written on them.
The home nations are only consituent countries. I would like to see all British countries to do well.
England haven't been a world class side in years. But it is a bit sickening hearing and reading all about the Golden generation, silver generation, bronze generation etc. and how they will win the next tournament. They are a good side, but miles apart from the likes of the Germany, Spain etc.
In terms of Inteernational football, my only concern is Scotland ... even though they are ****e and I can't see us ever qualifying for another major tournament! I watch the other home nations when playing but not fussed either way if tehy win or lose ... just as long they don't actualy win the tournament!
I'm English but like to see all of them do well. I have to agree with the dislike of the media though. It is totally unbearable and I shudder to think how much it must get on the tits of Scots, Welsh and irish readers / listeners / viewers..
Why dont you all just support England. We are so superior its painful and are the cleanest team in international football (i.e. we dont cheat everyone else does). Plus we invented the sport and our 1966 team are the greatest international side in history.
GK Joe Hart GK David Stockdale GK Frank Fielding DF Ashley Cole - CHEATER! DF John Terry (C) - CHEATER! DF Joleon Lescott DF Micah Richards DF Phil Jagielka DF Leighton Baines DF Gary Cahill DF Chris Smalling DF Phil Jones MF Frank Lampard - CHEATER! MF Gareth Barry MF Stewart Downing MF James Milner MF Theo Walcott MF Ashley Young MF Scott Parker MF Adam Johnson MF Tom Cleverley FW Wayne Rooney - CHEATER! FW Jermain Defoe - CHEATER! Ashley Cole doesnt cheat on the pitch Terry is a throughly honest footballer on the pitch Lampard is the fairest footballer in the world and very intelligent Rooney is a saint compared to most foreign players. Works purely for the team Defoe never cheats but he never plays either That dive in the last minute by Scotland teh other day was a disgrace!
