I think basically, because he doesn't like what Leeeeon called Bellamy he picked one our players (that happens to be connected with Wales) randomly to call a name! I get why he did it, not very imaginative though...
I know exactly why he did it. I just thought it was a pathetic cheap shot at a young lad, who's hopefully the future of Wales, but just happens to play for us. Wanted him to elaborate on his comment.......
When Swans are flying! I believe this is a retort to Leon's childish stance over the Bellamy description.Inevitable really.Apparently Leon's intransigence has made it fair game to attatch descriptions to Welsh players.
I fully understand why he did it. Doesn't make it acceptable!! Just rise above what was said about Bellamy. Surely by carrying out this 'cheap-shot' as I've already described it, people are behaving the same. I don't agree with what was said about Bellamy & certainy don't think it's open-season now, to have a 'tit-for-tat', about each other's players. Let's move on, we're more focussed on our indifferences, than facing England.....
When Swans are flying! You seem a fair minded sort of guy but seem to suggest double standards. Leon could end this now and unite Welsh fans.
Tis getting a bit silly now.... I know you Swans used to call Ledley somthing similar too (was it buck toothed dwarf or something?). At least Leeon(a) has admitted that Bellamy isn't all bad now To be honest, it doesn't really metter what you say in defence of someone, if a person has decided they dislike that individual (however flimsy the reasoning may be) then it won't change. the press have villified Bellamy for a long time now and some folk take the headlines as gospel without checking out facts (or more often are unable to check facts). More often than not Bellamy's issues have stemmed from his perceptions (rightly or wrongly) that others are not pulling their weight and putting in a shift so his anger can be justified, it is just the actions that are occasionally over the top (6 iron anyone?)..... At least Bellamy is up front when he's annoyed and will have it out properly unlike Rooney (swing that elbow Wayne)... Anyhow, onwards and upwards... anyone think we can get any sort of result? I believe we will lose but if Ingerlund take their eye off the ball we may snatch a draw.... (he says hopefully).
There's rivalry between our clubs, which is intense as we know. But at times like this we should stand shoulder to shoulder against a common enemy. It's such a pity that this has not been given a chance, by the way this thread has gone!! We could have united, then resumed our 'skirmishes' once this 'battle' with England was over!! Never mind, it's done now....
"I know you Swans used to call Ledley somthing similar too (was it buck toothed dwarf or something?)." Sorry!! Don't know about that!! But sounds about right though...... Only joking..........
Craig Bellamy has, in no particular order; Admitted he said he'd fake an injury to avoid playing, hit John Arne Riise with golf clubs, kicked Marco Materrazzi, threw a chair at a first team coach, fell out with Souness and called him a liar in public (granted, Souness is a bit of a tool too and could have been lying), sent abusive texts to Alan Shearer and Freddy Shephards son, stormed out of training in protest over a move he wanted, slapped a pitch invader in the face (granted, funny, but should have known better), and let's not forget, while he was with you guys Dave Jones came out and said he was "too injured to play for Wales" only for the then CAPTAIN of Wales to play a full game for Cardiff. He clearly acknowledged this was wrong and resigned the captaincy afterwards. I'm not trying to say I hate the guy, all I'm saying is gob****e is a very polite way of describing him, and a lot of people would use stronger words. Personally, I'm very impressed with the Sierra Leone thing and it shows how much the media pick and choose their stories, but it still doesn't excuse him from previous antics. Something I agree with BrizzleBluebird on is at least if he doesn't like someone or something he's up front about it, but it's taken him a long time to learn how to express himself without upsetting the applecart, as it were.
Lads seriously I can't believe one off the cuff comment in the original post had caused so much discussion. Cardiff fans love Craig as one of our own and as such we have taken the time to know more about the good things he's done beneath the headlines. Others have no need to do so and therefore judge him on headlines and more importantly on his ability on the pitch. To be fair talismanic gob ****e is a fair description on that basis. I.e. he's a quality player (talisman) but throughout his career he's courted controversy (gob****e) I understand supposed city 'fans' on 'the board that shall not be named' were calling him far worse for signing for Liverpool instead of coming home - this, in my opinion is far worse than a back handed compliment from a jack (sorry can't remember name of op) Anyway on to tonight I am the only one stupid enough to think we might just maybe sneak something out of this?
Not at all mate. Gareth Bale to recreate his San Siro form and score a hat-trick! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallleeeesss.....
Exactly Scott. And when you consider the way I have heard people described on here before, I would say it's a very mild slur on his character. I really want Bellamy to be playing tonight because he is one of our best players and our captain, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be gobbing off at every given opportunity. And ITIWRAN, if having an opinion on a player, and sticking to it because no-one has convinced me otherwise is intransigent, you misunderstand the word. If someone can convince me that he is not a gobshite, I will change my mind, but no-one has. I commend his investment in Sierra Leone, but that doesn't change my opinion of him.
At last, someone who can see how ridiculous this argument is. Like you said, it was basically a backhanded compliment, and there is much worse said about players all the time.
Scottswan It is difficult to ignore Bellamy's misdemeanours. There have been many, as you alluded to in your post. He hasn't always turned-up for the national team, I agree. No-one has slagged him more than me, for turning out for his club & then not being 'available' for Wales!! But in his defence & by the way, I'm not out to defend him at all, he can more than do that for himself!! Considering the injuries & problem's he's had with his knee's, he's lasted far longer as a representative for his country, compared to some of the other 'spineless b$%tards' who've chucked the towel in with whimsical ease!! He's also a good player & Wales haven't got the luxury of numbers/talent. So whilst he's got plenty of previous, I'm purely (for Wales) only going to look at his efforts on the pitch......
