Quality article again Scott fair play, can't see us getting anything but strange things can happen. One question to the decent Arsenal Fans though, according to the Bluebirds when they played you in the cup they claimed the atmosphere from your fans was non existent, surely not though ? Are they exaggerating ? Isn't it a 60,000 stadium, surely it must a good atmosphere there ?
I do find it interesting that several people seem to think that the Gunners are going to demolish us. Arsenal are a quality team, and if both played to 100% there'd only be one winner, but it's not like you're coming into the game with a head of steam...
with respect you have already played one of the best clubs in the country and lost 3-1. ooh i hear 22 knocking knees at the emirates and the ref is on diocalm
I think it's generally because away fans are more passionate! If you've made the trip, you're unlikely to be one of the new wave of rich fans who view football as some kind of soap opera, and expect to be entertained, and more likely to be a fairly long term fan who knows all the songs
When i was at Old Trafford for "that" game you could hardly hear the Man Utd fans.I doubt it very much that they were quiet during the game though
Yeah that was my (badly explained, granted) point. If you're among loud vociferous fans it's awfully hard to hear anything else! Especially if the "singing" section of the home fans isn't right next to the away end...
At the Emirates the away section is in the opposite corner to the "singing" section. The two sets of fans couldn't be further from each other
We usually sit in the east lower in the block next to the away fans, there is usually banter there and you'l find the same will happen in the Clock End
Don't know whether it's just me, but when watching games on television, the away fans always seem louder. I think they mic them up more, assuming that the home fans will be louder, so it will give a better sounding atmosphere on tv.
What's the deal with the debt on the stadium now? One of my best mates is an ex ST holder with Arsenal and I remember some stuff he sent me saying how the debt on the stadium was ahead of schedule in terms of repayments. Surely it'll be cleared in a year or two now? Once that happens... I'd be very surprised if the board didn't back Wenger (if he's still in charge at that point) in the transfer market...
Good point, I've noticed that too. It's nice when it's your fans, but I saw one of the derbies at the Liberty on TV and all you could hear was Cardiff fans... I'd wager that given the opposition, that was one game where the home fans were louder!
That's a big loss to Arsenal. Squillaci and Mertesacker are going to be pretty slow as a pairing. If the Swans can get balls in behind them......... Or am I clutching at straws?
I don't think so. One centre back who is new to the team, albeit a very good one, and one who is famously inconsistent (regardless of who out of Squillaci/Djourou plays) has to give us more reason to be cheerful!
