Apparently you can fly one of these professional units from anywhere around the globe, but someone must be changing the batteries on the ground. Incredible they’ve not been found yet.
I read an article after the Leicester helicopter crash (that wasn't caused by a drone) - the report was about an American Military Helicopter that suffered damage as a result of a drone. It was an accident. The user had lost track of his drone. The next he knew was when the FBI turned up on his doorstep. Part of the drone had become embedded in the helicopter, it contained a serial number. From that it linked back to the manufacturer who were able to trace it to the retailer. My guess they just need to bring one of these fookers down, then hopefully they can trace it back to the culprit(s).
If they’ve disabled the airport safety system, then it’s a fair bet that they’ve removed the serial number. Which probably explains why they’ve not shot it down, as they want to catch whoever’s the ground support for this thing.
I think they’re illegal lol. I do think they’re more concerned with catching the culprits than downing the machine, as otherwise it could be repeated over and over. Time will put pressure on them though, as if they can’t find them by morning then they’ll likely have to just take it down.
I’m thinking it must be some sort of blackmail; deposit 20 mill in this untraceable account, or we’ll keep you closed til the New Year. Has to be some sort of criminal intent
... let's rewind ... you are in Barcelona ... and fretting about getting to Luton? ... you need your bumps feeling ... the gods love you
I’m glad we were t going to Gatwick mate as I feel for the people who have had flights completely cancelled. I knew we’d get back alright, was just expressing my anger at the ****ers doing it! We were just under 3 hours late back in the end, just short of compo My point really was how it is affecting more widely. I saw 800 flights affected mentioned. I assume that is just ones in and out of Gatwick directly, my experience tells me there’s probably that over again and more that are delayed as a knock on. Bit of a new experience circling round for about half an hour above Luton waiting for the pilot to get clearance to land as well. They’ve just had to take that many extra flights landing elsewhere. Crazy tbh Edit, I think the actually point of your message went straight over my head there
I read a conspiracy on this (more it came to me from someone lol). @aberdude to confirm. The leading manufacturer of drones is a Chinese company Called dji and now this will lead to a drone ban. In other words a proxy trade war with another Chinese company. True or false?
Sounds a bit far fetched. Surely the only company who is in competition with a Chinese Drone Company would be another Drone Company and the last thing they would want would be a ban on them.
Some kid opened found his Christmas pressie early, while his parents were out, and is now sitting oblivious in the back garden of a house near Gatwick.
Couple of Drones in the air...the Army is required hmmmm Dodgy as **** but I'm sure the sheeple have bought it
