I have to wonder if there is any point to this thread ( and the political one as well). I really enjoy reading alternative views, ideas, expectations. I don't expect to change opinions - especially regarding Brexit - but I do find the continual sniping, snide comments, unnecessary put-downs of people with differing views beyond tedious. It doesn't move the discussion forward. In fact it is rather pathetic. Worse, I feel dragged into it, out of frustration. However, there is a pattern. The insults seem more likely to appear when the 'other sides' argument is more compelling.
(My own interventions are, admittedly sporadic so nobody need take nay notice of this comment either. They will now become vanishingly small.)
I feel quite sad that we have well-off (presumably) well-educated (possibly) well-read (judging by the level of detail in some aspects) people who are so dislikeable, given the tone of the contributions.

You have a new ally SH. possibly the only one left. Vladimir Putin has accused the UK political classes of ''disrespecting'' the public by questioning the Brexit referendum. According to him ''She must enact the will of the people expressed during the referendum'' - he even uses the same language as you (albeit in Russian). Now why should Putin have so much interest in the outcome of Brexit - wanting, as he does, to destabilize the West ?

I would have thought the commie Putin is one of your bedfellows. I'm surprised you have not popped over for the Kremlin financed Momentum xmas party. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

The first rule of this forum is that everyone, yes everyone, should show respect to other posters. Like many other moderators I have been busy today and cannot sit around reacting to every post that is put up. However I have now sat down for the evening and have read through every post that has been made during the day, and in my opinion there have been far too many posts that have not been respectful of other peoples opinions. There have been some thoughtful and intelligent posts, while at the same time far too many that have been the opposite.
I find myself in the Sir Graham Brady situation, that should I receive sufficient PMs of complaint, then I would have little option but to request a site ban. Once that is granted it is then up to me to decide for how long, a week, a month, or whatever. I have had requests in the past, but most of the posters on this site are very tolerant people, so I have not been under undue pressure to request one. It is the last thing that I want to do. Different mods on other sites have their own standards, some will call for a ban after a couple of posts, while others will tolerate things for much longer, believing as I do that for adults to behave in a desultory way to others is demeaning for the poster who is making these comments.
Every poster has three options if they feel aggrieved by another. 1. Put that poster on ignore, and don't read what they say. 2. Read what they say, but never respond. Eventually the poster will finish up ignored and will simply be talking to themselves. 3. The final straw option, send me a PM and if I receive enough complaints will act.
Everyone who contributes to this site does so because they are a Watford fan. Read the matchday threads and you will see that there are different opinions on what happened. These never boil over into slagging off other posters, yet some seem to think that abusing others is fine when we try to discuss other matters.
Time to grow up, or face reality. I might even send myself a PM when I get fed up with some of the comments.

Even at a time like this on each thread this guy publishes posts HE and he alone finds amusing..... at the expense of others.

Even when I and others have tried to encourage debate he seeks to belittle and divert etc etc.

Many of us have been on this board for years..... and got along very well.... we have go to a stage when people have turned, and in my view BEEN turned, against each other.... I am not sure if I can go on with this any longer.... It is certainly not enjoyable to be sniped at by one individual again and again.

We will end up with just the TOXIC politics threads and little else....

I agree with you OFH, it saddens me that there is a bit of slagging going on, we should all feel free to make constructive comments or points of view without being derided in some manner.

Having said that I do find these days that anyone with a view that is even slightly right of centre or not PC then they are treated as some kind of delinquent. Let's face it the PC brigade and minorities these days really do dictate the agenda and can ridicule anyone that they don't agree with.

The same applies to the Populist feeling that is rising in many countries, what is wrong with having this view point? The very name of the viewpoint - populist - would indicate that this is a popular viewpoint being put forward by those who are starting to get really fed up with the establishment, the PC brigade and minorities dictating all, the pendulum is starting to swing back.

Now as my old boss would say - "play nicely everyone"

IMO 'respect for others' is now lacking .......

I have tried putting SH on ignore but I see the responses of others to him and am drawn in by his attention seeking and abusive posts. It is just not acceptable

This is nothing to do with politics, cliques or Brexit..... People fromm all sides have stopped posting on these threads because they are toxic.... and I ask you from where does the poison originate???

You need to look at your own behaviour, I've had several complaints about your rudeness.

Perhaps the time has come.... to close these threads and have a complete break from politics on this board. People can go and indulge their interests on GC and in many places elsewhere.

Sorry to but in on someone else's argument here but if you have received any complaints of this sort you would be well advised to produce the evidence. Every post which you produce in relation to Yorkie has some kind of insult contained within it, and I am sick of having to read through such drivel time and time again before finally arriving at something like debate. I think that you know well enough that Frenchie's post was intended for you amongst some others, but choose to ignore it. I, for one, have had enough of this childish game of yours, and want to get this forum back to a place of mutual respect and enjoyment - if you do not share those sentiments then I urge you to take the advice given on the yellow vest with relation to yourself ie. leave means leave. Put shortly knock it off.
