Everton announce proposed new 52k capacity ground with scope to increase to 62k. Loved Goodison last year, will be a shame when it goes.
It’ll be a sad day when we leave the Old Lady, but we simply have to, as she’s no longer a top level club ground. A new stadium on the banks of the Mersey will be a right result though, given we were close to moving to Kirkby only a few years back.
Yeah definitely need to move on and the docks are a prime spot for non football income streams too. What year you hoping to move? Will have to get up at least once more before you do.
It was originally 21/22 season iirc, but that’s not going to happen now. It’s likely to be at least 4 years from now I reckon.
Went to Goodison back in 88 for the Littlewoods cup semi. Perry Groves scored a beauty to win 0-1. Lovely old ground Goodison and always a great atmosphere up there. Is it right that there's a chapel that's nestled right in between two of the stands ?
I hope that the owners take enough from Goodison to make it still feel like home for Evertonians. They have to keep moving forward and modernising, but the past still has to be respected and acknowledged. These moves seem to have become increasingly tricky, so I hope that this one goes well.
We’ve sold the maximum number of ST’s we’re allowed to sell as per the rules - 31,500 for us, for the last few seasons, and we’ve got 10,000 on the waiting list. The place is sold out for Home fans every game, and the current capacity is just under 40k. We’ll have no problem filling it.
