Would agree, but the police say too dangerous because of the danger from bullets....after all a bullet would smash the thing, but not lodge in it. catch the idiots and then jail them for years (5 currently the maximum) or alternatively throw them to the grounded passengers as prey.

 

Eagles have been trained to take out normal drones, but these are described as industrial scale....may be too risky for the birds.

 

According to the BBC the drones are "of industrial size" so not just shop-bought ones. Maybe the eagles are scared of them...

I'm always amazed at people's patience in airports. I have waited a few hours when the problem is weather, but faced with a long wait I'd just go home. Rather lose the money than hang around an airport….though I realise that some flights may be more necessary than just a holiday.

 

My father-in-law tells a chilling story of walking home in London after a shift during the blitz. He heard a horrific clang just next to him, turned and found a chunk of razor-sharp jagged steel from an anti-aircraft shell. He reckoned it weighed a couple of pounds and he knows it would have killed him if he'd been a few steps over.

People have died when hit in the head by bullets falling down after being fired into the air during celebrations....you can't shoot bullets without knowing where they will end up.

 

Perhaps it needs a different type of raptor. The F22 Raptor would sort them out.

Army to be called in.

 

The Americans would of fired a heat seeking nuclear weapon at the drone, were to patient in this country.

 

Last I heard they had been shooting at the drone all day trying to hit it and bring it down.

Not sure where Shane Long got the gun from.

Yep, agree.
If the army are there, why not snipe them, then locate the people responsible. Can't be that hard with the place on shut down.
Feel really sorry to the people stuck there. The law will be changed after this incident.

 

No flights taking off before 7pm tomorrow at the earliest.
