Why the **** are we such a backwards country that we grind to a halt from stuff like this! Shoot the ****ers down, find who has done it and shoot them ****ers too! I feel strongly about this as I’m sitting in Barcelona airport watching the time on my flight back to Luton get delayed and delayed again <grr><grr><grr>

They said due to the risks of it being above the airport, they can't shoot it down. We could end up with drone wars <laugh>

Personally i think they should ban the things, but hey it's a hobby so that would be met with disagreement. But i do agree, surely for an airport as sophisticated as Gatwick they could engage drones capable of bringing these things down.

The authorities have put out a reminder that it can be up to 5 years in prison for acts of disrupting an airport.

Yeah I don’t get the point. Seems they are just used for disruption and they are danagerous. Kids toy ones fair enough but when are these proper ones ever used for positive purposes? I just hope they get and nail the ****ers with the most punishment they can. Being delayed here is insignificant compared to the chaos im reading about at Gatwick itself. Just hope we end up back at the right airport!

Yeah it’s not a joke at all. I think I saw one had a narrow miss around Stanstead last week. I just wonder whether it’s a dick just wanting to be disruptive or a terror/political thing I.e Russia etc.
It seems our plane is here but I guess they are not wanting to load it and set off until it can be timed right to land at the other end.

Looks like military been called in to deal with situation. Whoever has caused this have serious shhite coming their way if caught.

I know the devices carry serial numbers, so if the military can bring one of the drones down, it might help track them back to the owners or at least the seller.

The airport bird scarer will have a shotgun and that's no danger to aircraft just shoot them down.

This is no hobbyist. Drones have safety devices that don’t allow them to fly close to airports so someone has overridden that GPS based system. The max flight time of even a large drone like this is only about 20 minutes, so they’ve either got loads of them or someone is changing the batteries. The size of drone being used is a professional unit and they cost thousands.

If they catch the perpetrators they’re ****ed. I’m intrigued to know their reason for doing it though.

What utter ****s. Guy on the news trying to get home to see his daughter for Xmas. He said she was looking out the window hours ago waiting for him to arrive. Now she has to wait an extra couple of days. She’ll be heartbroken right now. This prank is ****ing with hundreds of thousands of people’s lives. Hope they catch the ****ers who did this and they get to enjoy a few years inside.

I think once they catch them, they will need to send out a very clear message, and a prison sentence is the only option that can deliver that. This has got to be more than someone just being a complete idiot, there has to be malicious intentions for it to continue, especially with all the media attention and warnings that this carries a sentence of five years imprisonment.
