Wolves vs Liverpool, Friday Night Football 8pm, live on Sky Sports Premier League It's a nice big pitch for Liverpool, Wolves do try and play and are a good team, but I just can't see how they're going to live with Jurgen Klopp's side. Wolves were worthy winners against Bournemouth, and some may look at this result and think: "Wow, are you joking?" but I just think with Liverpool's pace and defensive solidity, they dictate the game and win it comfortably. please log in to view this image Oops! The lovren qoute is as usual slightly miss leading, he says he hopes we go unbeaten and it would be good to emulate arsenal. Nothing bad in that, just the usual spin from the BBC to intice people to click.
I said earlier that I assumed it was a journo's trap. I just wish people wouldn't walk into them so easily.
I've had a little read, he doesn't say anything inflammatory or even out the ordinary. The reaction from some on hear to something they haven't read is more outrageous
I think he's alright as well, the love in with matip has started again because he's has two decent games, one against a side that didn't bother to attack. Lovren has a **** up in him, but more often than not he has covered matip being out of position, not to mention having to deal with Moreno. Out of matip and lovren, lovren is by far the superior defender, on his day he can be a beast.
Both have errors in them but Matip at his best is better than Lovren at his best. Lovren's errors tend to be extremely comical which makes his more memorable. I have to disagree with ever seeing him as a beast. I have seen him solid and resolute but never dominate an opponent the way VvD does.
Lovren has all the necessary physical attributes, but I think he lacks self-confidence. He has a mistake in him and he gets rattled sometimes. He's nowhere near the level of VvD, but he's nowhere near as bad as some on here make out either.
Vvd is possibly the best CB in the world, it's not really fair to compare. Matip doesnt make comical errors because it's rare he actually stretches for the ball, or tries to win a header. He is a very passive CB, the amount of times he gets stuck in no man's land is amazing, but because it's not highlighted on motd or sky most don't notice. I'm not going to say lovren is one of the best in the world, but he's a million miles better than matip.
From what I've seen and read, it looks like Wolves play a high pressing game, with quick counters out wide. I think this will play into our hands. Alisson and VvD will play long balls over the top to Salah. If its great. If not it forces Wolves defence to fall back and leave a huge space between their defence the midfield. And we all know how Firmino and Shaq love playing in those spaces. It'll come down to whether we can withstand any early pressure they apply. I see a tough 3 nil to us.
they have looked soft in the middle. they did draw with city though... they paly 3 at back so there should be big gaps wide so for me this game should see salah nd mane quite wide if we have sense. Finally... I absolutely love teams who play 3 at back as it's a waste of a player as we won't put anyone up there so the 3 are going to stooge around.
it's like how astro is the world's greatest wum. he gets rattled and panics and does something silly. Rodgers wanted him to dribble out of defence and that was half his problem. he now just puts it out of play. and so does vvd btw the other half of lovrens issues stem from inability to read the game but he's a trier and when he plays donkey British style forwards he is fine. he s a battle Matip is a reader of the game. As others head for his height he is lousy in the air, but he does make interceptions and doesn't let forwards go. vvd is miles better than either. but right now Joe gomez is that quick he is recovering position not really reading where to be. he has a lot to improve on imo but that could make him a world class player if he does... first full season at cb... and he's this good already..
