Vote against what? In the debate regarding the current "deal" with the EU, it's almost certain that a majority in Parliament will vote against it, but that is not voting against Brexit. To stop Brexit will require a change in the Law - this has nothing to do with the current debate.

You do realise that Parliament get a vote on the exit deal? If they reject May's deal and No Deal, we don't crash out with no deal.

    What's the plan next?

Legally incorrect. The default position is no deal if her deal is rejected. Any amendment is not legally binding although she can choose to honour it if she chooses.

A bit like Cameron making sure the referendum became government policy!!!

The plan would be to leave on WTO rules.

Yes, it's a vote on the Withdrawal Agreement and the associated terms, but if that is voted out it does not mean that Brexit will stop or that a No-Deal is somehow blocked - that is not what is being voted on. If that carries on then come March 29th we will exit the EU. Someone in Parliament will need to propose a change to the Law to stop Brexit and exiting the EU with no-deal.

I don't think that we have a lawyer on here W_Y. Whatever the legal situation may be the political reality is relatively clear - there is no majority for a hard, no deal, Brexit. If Parliament voted against May's deal then there would be a cooling off period (in which time the pound would collapse) and she may win a second vote on the matter. No Conservative Government is going to let the UK. crash out without a deal, this would be political suicide, and may herald the end of the party.

Not sure I understand this 'legal' situation. I had the naive idea that the UK parliament created laws, changed laws and that would include voting to withdraw Article 50. It might be unlikely, but I would be pleased to see the 'legal' evidence that makes withdrawing Article 50 impossible. After all, it's not as if the EU has said we cannot withdraw it!

For the Tories not to be in power it requires a credible alternative, so far there is not one in sight.

All that has to happen I believe is for the PM who wrote the original letter, is for her to write another one saying that they wish to withdraw it. Full stop, nothing that the EU can do about it, and we remain on the existing terms. If she wishes to ask for an extension to the two years, once again she has to do it in writing, but then it would require the unanimous approval of all 27 countries. Following the debate in Parliament this evening, a number of speakers suggested that due to the delays that the PM has created, it could get to the situation where not all of the legislation could be passed by the end of March, and the government would then find itself in the largest of large holes, which could result in them asking for an extension or withdrawal.

Not a good day for the Labour Party. May wipes the floor with Corbyn during Prime Ministers question time culminating with the hapless Corbyn using misogynistic language. Then one of its MPs is found guilty of perverting the course of justice. This could well lead to a by-election which Labour could lose.

Not exactly a good day either for the Tories with MPs threatening to resign the whip to vote with the opposition.

It is good to expose the rebels as Lib Dem fodder, they will disappear just as quickly.

Not a good day for Macron and his under siege government with the police joining the general malaise by using industrial action to slow down passport control, not for the first time evidently!!!

Bit like your mates in the ERG. Here today, gone tomorrow. What a pathetic bunch they are. One minute shouting she has to go, and the next expressing undying love for her. I expect they will be saying what a great deal she has negotiated next. Looks as though you backed a bunch of losers there with your £25 stake.

Your party allowed 2 alleged sex pests to vote on the leadership challenge, don't think calling May a stupid woman really compares.

It is rather difficult to miss the images of France tearing itself apart here in the UK, I suppose the same all around the world.

They actually said they respect democracy, a lesson some of you remoaners should learn. I got a nice xmas card from my local Tory MP today. I expect a call from the cabinet for my advice fairly soon.

You must tell me where to look. It is hardly a problem here, although I will admit that a trailer load of manure was dumped outside the tax office last week. Still this is completely off topic.

So you are not joining with your friends in the splinter group and expressing your undying loyalty to your leaders plan? A week ago it was rubbish, now it is what?
