Big name like Mourinho or Van Gaal? I don’t think so.

Mourinho certainly not, I like to think we are too refined for him but Conte or Pellegrini because he's wasted at the bubbles. If Laurent Blanc's available then yes.

Okay, so quick question: who will be Molde's caretaker manager for the first three months of next season?

Not sold on Pellegrini because recent career looks like this
Los Ladrones: flush with Florentino Perez's cash
Malaga: flush with Middle Eastern cash
The Sheikh Mansour Team: flush with Middle Eastern cash
Hebei China Fortune: flush with Far Eastern cash
West Scam: flush with cash at the expense of the taxpayer

Yet for all that he's not really achieved much, as he underachieved at The Sheikh Mansour Team while at Malaga he did guide them to their best-ever season but also saw the club banned from European competition due to FFP violations.

Look what West Ham are doing now though, climbing the table nicely.

They've had four wins on the trot, which is a good run for most teams.
They have all been against sides in the bottom third of the league that's cut adrift from the rest, though.
I think that they'll be solidly mid-table at the end of the season.

If Poch does go to United,he must remember he cannot regard the FA Cup and League Cup as reserve tournaments. They want to win everything....like Spurs fans!

I could use Southampton beating Arsenal as a negative to your points PNP. Even though they beat teams from the lower half they were there themselves so it's a good effort regardless.

Southampton have a new manager and met an injury and suspension plagued defence, which they took full advantage of. Unusual circumstances.
West Ham did their job and beat what was in front of them, but it wasn't the best opposition. Still needed to be done, though.

I remember all the posts on here from pre-2013.
Sage advice from yours truly - stick by your manager, have continuity, invest in youth.....
Spurs have done all those things; Utd haven't.
    Football's a simple game really.
And a great team is often more than the sum of its parts.

The other thing is to honour your club's identity and understand what's worked and what hasn't.
Swansea did this very well for years, as they were forced to change managers repeatedly, but kept moving forward.
They brought in coaches with similar styles and kept disruption to a minimum, as wholesale squad changes were unnecessary.

Moyes was nothing like Ferguson, apart from being Scottish.
He was a poor choice in general, but the squad that he inherited weren't right for his style of play and it showed.
Van Gaal and Mourinho tried to make lots of changes, but the fans didn't take to them and the squad became a mishmash.
There was no coherent vision of what Man Utd are, were or want to be.

The real question is whether Steptonho ever does those things
Stick by his players - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...no
Have continuity - falling out with half the squad and demanding to sign half a team every window doesn't help in this regard
Invest in youth - the only time he ever invests in youth is to stop other clubs buying them, with no interest in ever playing them

Moyes did the most damage, he took a massive step up with Fergies endorsement and immediately got rid of all the backroom staff that had served Fergie and the club so well.
Yes he might have feared they would undermine him but, they could also have given him a lot of help and had the best interests of the club at heart.

Moyes wanted players to commit to a conservative, defensive game when those players had previously been encouraged to attack - almost recklessly at times.
it's easy to commit players to an attacking philosophy as everybody wants to score goals; it's hard to be defensively orientated unless that's the strength of your squad.
It doesn't work in any sport.
It's not always easy to identify good players or recruit them, but it's far easier to integrate and develop lesser players into a team which knows how it is expected to play and what the role of each player within that system is. Tactics may dictate some variations now and again, but no team is set up differently with different formations and tactics every game. That's what was happening under Mourinho. Any Sunday league manager would have made a better fist of it. The team lacks quality in certain key areas, but there are enough good players to be doing a hell of a lot better if the team was set up to play to the the strengths of the better ones.

So, Chelsea scored by a huge deflection late on in the game which means we have a damned good chance of getting to the final because we are on form and they're relying on luck.

Again the spadework was done without Kane up front and for me £200,mill and he can go. I also think that if Poch wins a trophy he'll stay.

Well if Poch does go to United,he will probably insist on spending another 500 million....which could close the place down. Oh no!!!!!
