I just don't believe that Ashley wants to sell. The TV deal brings in far too money for him to cash the thing in. The complete lack of tangible evidence that there's even an active bidding process fits this theory.
Anything Ashley says should be considered a lie until proven otherwise. It really is tedious every year this happens and the media jump all over it, some are starting to see through the ruse though. The Chronicle have said plenty of times they'll believe it when they see it, Luke Edwards the same, Ian Wright has come out and said it all smells a bit like a ploy to not spend. To be honest I think this could be the best thing Ashley has done in recent years coming out with this... If it is genuine and we are sold we can move on with hopefully someone who will invest in the club, the facilities and the local area and allow the club to try reach its potential - whatever that may be probably differs from person to person. If it is a lie I could see it being the straw that breaks the camels back with the fan base - one lie to many - the protests that have been called off will be on again and I don't think even the most ardent supporters could consider not taking part. It will push ST sales down, whoever is still buying merch would (should) stop, the protests will be bigger and worse than ever. If he comes out in late Jan and says "the deal is off, they're time wasters" again would anyone NOT take part in a protest/boycott against him?
I just don’t believe it. But yes if it does not happen in the new year the fans will be in complete uproar. I honestly don’t think his safety could be guaranteed if he approached the stadium. Even penfold might actually be in danger. I don’t mean this as a threat just an actual worry. He surely must realise that this is the last chance saloon. The club devalues instantly if Rafa goes. Rafa holds the key to this and he knows it.
Are there any fans who believe it? I've yet to hear from any, seems almost all NUFC fans assume it's bullshit until proven otherwise. I'm sure when it "breaks down" in a month or so the press will find some devastated arse-wipes but they are very much a minority so far as i can tell.
I believe it - I saw a star in the East.I followed it and it led to Peter Kenyon. He says he will have the deal done by Tuesday but he is just waiting on those 3 kings. Actually just the one with the gold. Ashley has already said he won't take part payment in Frankincense or Myrrh
I’m pretty sure Frankincence and Myrrh are the two strikers we’re going to sign from Galatasary as soon as the deal comes through.
They are in a minority but to answer your question, yes there are many Newcastle fans who do believe it. I think they all have a nagging doubt naturally, but their enthusiasm for all things Newcastle overrides it. Look no further than these very boards. There are plenty suggesting this is different this time, he really wants out and its going to happen. I have mates who think it is happening. Its far wider spread than many of us care to think or want to admit. That's because its a bit embarrassing that anyone would believe 10 years on from getting into bed with Ashley. We should know better. The Kenyons and Staveleys all seem to have the same issue, they can't get the finances together. Personally I've come to the conclusion these are all Ashley stooges to add weight to his pre transfer ruse. Whereas he doesn't care what people think really, he cares enough to smooth the edges off and make it almost palatable. That is all he needs.
It’s been said that the offer is £275m, from PKs group, and the moneys there. What would be the point in Ashley saying what he said? As I have already pointed out, there was no sale rumour in the Summer and it didn’t stop us making £30m profit then, so why the need to fabricate this elaborate fairytale? Ashley does what he wants as has been proven time and again, he doesn’t need excuses. I think the reaction of “here we go again” is somewhat justifiable, but bear in mind the Staveley offers were real, the timing for Mike was wrong and everything this time around is different.
The only thing Ashley is doing is spunking his mush in to Charnley and planning his Christmas holiday.
That would hold some water if not for the last 10 winter transfer windows being proceeded by this very charade. You'd have to ask Mike why he runs this play every year. Then goes on holiday for Xmas and doesn't return until mid-late Jan. Guess where he went yesterday... Sorry mate but I'm not buying any of it. It's basically a situation where no one actually has any information bar Ashley, and possibly some bidders if they are real. And nobody can say with any certainty they are. If they are they don't appear to have the money because no deal gets done. The price is allegedly 300m. If they ain't got that they ain't worth discussing anyway. Regardless Mike is just doing the same as he does every year. Why? I'm not really sure. He has thick enough skin not to care what the fans say about not spending in a window. I can only think its for ****s and giggles as he does it EVERY year. I suppose its his business model. I mean he was closing down Sports Direct every other week and re-opening them round the corner.
