Imagine trying to prize MP away from Levy's death grip. No thanks.
    ZZ, easy.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer taking over until the end of the season, assisted by Mike Phelan.

A very wise man indeed told me yesterday that the Hütt apparently turned down Bayern Munich because he doesn't feel ready for a big club.

As the wise man was our own DaveCG, I feel we need to take this as gospel and stop worrying about the Hütt leaving for Spurs.

Perhaps Man U could appoint Theresa May to make them strong and stable!

    Beat me to it.
I was going to say she would keep them in Europe, for longer than expected, whilst always threatening to leave with nothing.

Here's a question, though: is Man Utd genuinely a much more attractive option than Tottenham these days? Not just the table position; while Man Utd has more money, and doesn't have Levy, their squad is an ungainly mess. Could Poch get a bunch of big names on 200k p/w to bust a gut chasing every ball and cutting off angles, or is his style more suited to a club that brings in younger players? I can see the makings of a Poch team, but they'd have to shed some big names.

Yeah. With the money/history etc and the chance to make them ‘great’ again. Plus a better opportunity to shed this ridiculous “but he’s won nothing” tag.

United isn’t a team you need to leave to cement a legacy. Spurs still is.

Has Poch taken spurs as far as he can though. Big stadium to move into but no money and prospect of losing some players. United have a lot of cash but tactically they have regressed like saints have and need a total overhaul of attacking movement and unity.

United have spent a lot recently but most of it has been wasted.

I'm just not sure that it's a better environment. They're going to keep chasing big, shiny objects without much attention paid to fit, and generally those decisions have happened above the head of the manager. There are a number of huge clubs that could come a-calling -- Man City if Pep's wanderlust reappears, Bayern if the Kovac experiment doesn't pan out, Real Madrid (particularly if Perez finally gets shooed out, bit of a poisoned chalice otherwise) -- that he'd be well-served to snatch at, but Man Utd is in real need of an overhaul in approach. They're just far too focused on the commercial side, and it has affected their squad composition.

That squad isnt that bad and theres some real talent . Also the united board are patient if they get their man and certainly the fans will be on board having suffered mourinho who has had 3 years.

    Its an absolute no brainer.

    Oh and doubles his wages

The squad isn't bad, but many of its 'stars' don't fit terribly well together, and Poch won't have the luxury of choosing the team that best suits his style, not when there are ad campaigns to launch. I'm very dubious that the increasingly languid play of Paul Pogba would be to his liking, but I'd imagine that he would be expected to shoehorn him into the lineup.

Not sure its because their players dont fit that well than jose asking them all to defend, them being generally unfit and jose chopping and change every other game as well as him slagging his players off.

Theres plenty of pace and power up front and energetic players in that side. They finished 2nd in the league last year with those dour tactics

It took one of the moaniest, ****iest, most miserable, most negative, most defensive managers in their history to get the squad playing this badly which by most standards is still performing reasonably well. Poch would get them enjoying football again and playing for ach other. It would be night and day and while I agree they don't have Liverpool's front three they are at least as good on paper.

Good riddance to Mourinho, hope to never see his face in front of a top 6 team ever again. He wasn't even laughable, just bloody irritating.

Sure, but Woodward *loves* Poch. Hard. He’d be able to dictate his terms, and I don’t mean in terms of money. Given a couple of years he takes them back up to where they believe they should be. Ferguson rates him as the best in the PL too. That carries a lot of weight. Next season transition, then the following he has them challenging again. No doubt (in my mind).
