Why on earth would you not put out your full strength team tonight? City are far from at full strength - you win tonight and you've got a great chance of going to Wembley. I'd be fuming if I were a Leicester fan.
Good, battling performance from Choudhury. Shame we couldn't find anyone to put his foot through the ball in the penalty shoot-out. Don't try and be fancy; just get the job done. Soyuncu still looks extremely dodgy. But worst of all was Iheanacho yet again. Absolutely no perception of where to be when waiting for a cross, and no movement to get across the first defender. Absolute waste of £26 million or whatever we flushed down the pan on him. I wouldn't have him in a Sunday league side.
That penalty shootout was horrible - Maddison's especially. We brought in Iheanacho based upon his potential - look like another in a very long line of failed strikers.
Not good enough from Puel yet again cost us Had Vardy, Albrighton and Maddison started we would have won tonight
Sums things up really. I’m not even going to blame Puel for that though. Had he played perceived stronger players, they would have upped it and won it in normal time imo. I actually think some of the others (Choudhury particularly) battles harder. As for the pens, that is not the managers fault unless he has instructed them to step up and take them like arrogant, entitled ****ers! Wtf is with the stuttering run ups! Feel for Fuchs as he is normally good from the stop and tried to do the right thing, Soyuncu had the pressure of going after 2 misses. Maddison is the main culprit
And people banging on about defenders taking the pens can **** off. Why shouldn’t they? Maguire scores, Fuchs is normally very reliable and Soyuncu scored last round. Would Gray have been any more likely? Probably not as he’d have done a Maddison. I remember a shootout years ago where the only decent ones were Solano and Berner. Defenders should be better in a way as you just want someone to step up and put their foot through it not show boat
I agree. When we lost to them last season on penos who missed? Vardy and Mahrez. Our 2 penalty takers
Exactly, pens is one thing that is so unpredictable. You just want to see a properly taken one and if the keeper pulls off a great save then well done him. That one I mentioned was probably the Cardiff play off shootout. Look at Kermorgant trying to be clever and looking like a dick followed by Waghorn who from memory put it right in the top corner and got stopped by great goalkeeping and he was so distraught after
I am sorry but the sooner people wake up to the facts about Iheanacho that he is not a Premiership striker, Man City knew he was lacking that’s why we were able to buy him from them in the first place. He does not help himself as he comes across as lazy and seems to put in very little effort and has yet to understand the offside rules, he reminds me of a rabbit in headlights with not a clue what to do about it. However our wonderful manager old Clueless Claude could of helped him out by playing Shinji alongside him. But maybe the best thing in the long run for our beloved team would be for Iheanacho and Puel to not let the door smack them up the backside as they both leave the club A.S.A.P.
Have to admit I'm rather pissed off that we made so many changes - really can't see the point in playing anything but our very best XI in this competition at this stage - it was more important than the Chelsea game - certainly to the fans. One positive - Hamza Choudry - more than held his own and worked his socks off
Hope Simpson recovers from his nasty injury. Nose bleed when caught offside. Never happened in the last three years I'm sure, clearly trying to impress his manager and showing what an attacking force he can be. Another disappointing result and sadly its all a bit ho hum at the moment.
Iheanacho’ strengths in being in the box and getting on the end of chances. Thats where all his success came from at Man City His all round game isnt good enough hence why Pep got rid
TBF They do rate him to have a buy back clause - apparently West Ham were offering more without it but they said no.
Frustrating thing is that I think he might actually be a very good striker and could well move on and be very successful - a bit like kramaric. Sometimes things just don’t work out at clubs and you have to accept it but would be worrying to see it happen twice. I think the biggest problem is that top strikers need to have the identity and build up of the play suited to them - like we do with Vardy. But you can’t do that with a back up striker which is why I feel he is suffering though that isn’t an excuse for lack of effort and the worst first touch the league has seen since Titus Bramble
