I should be sad that Man utd have sacked a manager that was taking then downhill, but I have despised Mourinho and everything he stands for since 2005. The PL is well rid of him.

I will thank him for the Eritage speech though. Best. Rant. Ever.

Don't think our game made much difference, he was a dead man walking for months!

It showed up how bad UTD have got under him, an average Liverpool team (you had players out) running rings around UTD, he had to go.

Was trying to say, you did not have your best team out, so god knows how many you would have scored by if you did

It was just the "average" bit that made me laugh.

I for one was hoping he would win the odd game as the club would keep him even though everyone could see it wasn't working. He was a dead man walking for many months when he started dropping points against the lowest teams and when his team was dominated by those teams. But the managers were too cowardly to pull the trigger.

They were waiting for that symbolic defeat. If he had drawn this weekend, there is no doubt he would still be there. Now basically they had nothing to lose. It was being called for by the pundits like Neville and there is enough time for a caretaker to at least give the fans better football.

I think it is too late for the CL. They might get into the Europa but even that may be at risk unless they manage to sort out that leaky defence.

    Do you mean Phil there?

Gary was saying Mourinho should stay and changes needed to be made higher up

He said something complimentary about Liverpool - he's lucky he escaped with his knackers.

That was stupid. The man causing the trouble was Mourinho. Yes he was appointed by the people higher up but the football is being controlled by the manager. After he is sacked then they can look at the hierarchy.

Although I didn't agree with what GN was saying, got too give him credit for sticking to it after the sacking too.

Also one of very few rightly attacking the powers above too.

Mourinho had to go but look at who they've appointed since Fergie in Moyes, LVG and Mourinho. From a attack minded manager to three VERY defensive managers, one never being good enough (Although hand picked by Fergus #conspiracy)

GN has a good point with utds ownership and how it's run, the glazers bought a cash cow, a money making machine that was run completely by Ferguson.

Once he left the hole he left was huge, I still reckon Moyes would have made it with them, but he needed time to build the side.

Utd are now chasing past successes, throwing good money after bad on poor choices, hoping for a quick turn around.
In short the owners have panicked and are grasping at straws hoping they can appoint someone who will run the club for them again.

Looking at the list of mangers they are after, non look particularly suited to the task in hand and all will be expected to deliver results straight away rather than being able to build in the long term.

    ...and David Gill!

If Gill had remained, I really don't think they'd have wasted money like they have.

    Poch makes most sense.

If they're happy to stick with the defensive approach then Simeone would sort it but doubt he'd join.

Blanc might not be a bad option but it's risky imo.

ZZ would be a terrible choice, far too risky and not appropriate for the job atm.

Really can't see them going for anyone else named atm

Poch is the obvious choice, he would certainly get them organised, but he's got levy behind him at the moment, who offers support and control.

If he goes to utd, he's on his own, the expectations would be through the roof, the utd support would look what he has achieved with spurs and think well what could he do with some money behind him?
