Hernandez, Bamba, Bartley and Gradel are probably the only other 4 in the last few years, and maybe to some extent Lasogga
So no successes amongst the young PL starlets that we keep giving a season to and getting nothing in return ?
Gradel was signed on loan during the Grayson promotion year in October 2009, and this was extended a couple of times on a one month basis, and we then signed him in January 2010 as a permanent player
Him and Sam Volkes came on loan, was all hush, hush and never knew we had them until the team was named,no one knew who he was but I had seen him 2 years Before playing for Bournemouth, just a kid but ripped us apart but couldn't find the net.Volkes also did quite well, but couldn't score.
Talking to myself again but...Harrison has earned 1 point for us so far this season, that at least is something. However I still think we'd be better served giving our youngsters the playing time rather than aiding PL teams who have overstocked their academies and are ultimately looking to others to raise the value of their investments.
Totally agree, unless of course the loan deal also includes an already negotiated option to purchase if we wish to do so, so at least then we are getting a try before you buy preview with an already agreed price.
Can possibly see why you're Morbid now...is it because someone else pointed that out 10 minutes ago ?
Errrrr where, Chesh posted 22 minutes prior to your response just now, you then posted 10 minutes ago, although made no actual mention about us doing a loan before you buy, and then I posted agreeing with you about loaning young players, with my added caveat of the loan before you buy scheme. If however you would prefer me not to agree with your posts, I have no problem with that , feel free just to carry on with your own private conversation between yourself then Think you have spent so long hitting your head against the wall for no reason, that you are thinking things have been posted that haven't , at least within the timescale you refer to
Only teasing Morbid...and you have to be respected to be granted the honour of a put down, so really it was a compliment .
No problem Jammy, I did check back only because if someone had said what I posted already, I'd have just liked your post and not actually posted myself. I'm a big believer in not posting just for the sake of it, so either I'm posting to enhance the discussion or like in this case replying to a post directed to myself. I'm an advocate of less is more, in that a few thoughtful insightful posts garners more attention that reams and reams of one line posts that add nothing to a thread. Now I'm 99% there with not posting the useless one liner posts, but I still need to master the thoughtful insightful ones
Was just checking something on Max Gradel after Elland's post regarding the fee paid, which is either stated as undisclosed or £200k, when I came across this article on planet football about all our loan signings since relegation from Premier League until the signing of Pennington last season. www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/leeds-united-fan-ludicrously-rated-100-loan-signings-since-2004/
We loaned him from Leicester and then bought him for 200k Grayson was the manager and Pearson was Leicesters manager
