please log in to view this image Wednesday 19th December 7.45pm Carabao Cup Quarter-Final Emirates Stadium A predictable slog against Burnley brought home three points and we're back in cup action, again. This time it's the League Cup and another North London Derby, pretty quickly after the last one. We're into the later rounds, so it'll be interesting to see how each side approaches this. December's got a very full fixture list, so some rotation will be inevitable. Will Pochettino get it right this time or will he repeat the mistakes of the League match? It's not been long since the last time that we met, so have some highlights that everyone's seen: It's too early for injury news, but Trippier returned for the Burnley match. Dembele, Wanyama, Foyth, Aurier, Vertonghen, Dier, Amos, Janssen and Sanchez missed out. Welbeck and Holding are long-term injuries for them. Neither side has any suspensions. Lineups for each side's last league game: Spurs: Lloris; Trippier, Alderweireld, Davies, Rose; Sissoko, Skipp; Lamela, Alli, Moura; Kane. Subs: Gazzaniga, Walker-Peters, Eyoma, Winks, Eriksen, Son, Llorente. League form: WWLWWW. Arsenal: Leno; Lichtsteiner, Koscielny, Xhaka; Bellerin, Torreira, Guendouzi, Monreal; Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang, Iwobi. Subs: Cech, Elneny, Ramsey, Ozil, Maitland-Niles, Lacazette, Nketiah. League form: DWWDWL. Referee: Jonathan Moss. Andre Marriner is on VAR duty. TV: Sky Sports. Injuries and rotation will be debated hotly for this one, so who would you start? What system should we use and what should we do tactically to deal with the Goons? Is there anything that we should avoid or anyone that should be dropped?
The Goons will be wary of this one, as the efforts of playing to win an NLD at the Library seems to cost them 5 pts in the PL two weeks later. So what to do : bragging rights or perhaps 10 pts behind by Boxing Day ??
It's probably the best kept secret on this site but really hate the NLD...2 in 17 days...feck right off
Play our strongest team- whatever that may be. Especially as I am going. Oh and also as ''we need to win a trophy''
95% likely to play a rotated side. Arsenal probably won't as they've been able to field a second string in Europa most weeks so won't be feeling half as fatigued as we are. Imagine we'll line up with something like: Gazza Aurier, Sanchez*, Foyth*, Davies Skipp, Winks Lucas, Lamela, Son Llorente *Presuming both will be fit by Wednesday seeing as they were supposedly close to a return on Saturday Hopefully Kane, Eriksen, Alli, Sissoko and Toby will be in the squad though should they be needed.
Who cares less about this tie? Couldn't give two ****s. I'd sooner worry about beating Burnley than beat you 10-0 in this. Couldn't give a ****. Wouldn't even enter it if I had the choice.
It is good game time for the Spurs squad. We don't have the luxury of 6 Emmerdale League games for our squad to stretch their legs.
I think Eriksen will play. Was a late sub on Saturday. Get him off as soon as there is a 2 goal advantage either way.
Depends if these injury rumours are true or not. Eriksen’s been rotated more than ever lately, he’s usually always in the XI until a league cup/ fa cup game comes along.
Just to provide some balance to this thread, as you know I always like to do, I figured I'd do the honourable thing and post a video of the last time we met in this competition. Just for those of you who have short memories, it was September 2015 at White Hart Lane and ex-Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini scored a brace. Enjoy
Was just responding to the video PNP posted from 10 years ago. I'm more than happy to post the most recent meeting between our two sides if you want, though?
No, it’s ok - you might want to hang on to it as a precious souvenir, come the weekend..... while you’re looking at the PL table.
Remember, no throwing bananas even if you're not racist and the banana wasn't yours but some some kid sat next to you's and you're not racist because Greek Cypriots aren't racist
