Greedy bastards and yet so many mackem fans are 'pleased' that a potentially lucrative FA Cup run has been avoided by losing to Walsall #apathyshield.
Well, buying the tickets to the mackems means you can eat cheesy chips, drink panda pop and watch some horror, so it’s pretty much the same thing.
I see they haven't even given us the proper allocation https://www.themag.co.uk/2018/12/su...eckatrade-trophy-derby-match-newcastle-united
Is that correct though as I thought some of their stadium was closed presently due to them being completely ****e?
From the article Stewart Donald revealed on Thursday that Newcastle United had asked for the full allocation for the ‘derby’ match. Stewart Donald – Thursday 13 December 2018: “Under competition rules they are entitled to 10 percent of our capacity so just short of 5000 tickets potentially.” Checkatrade Trophy rules state that away clubs are entitled to a minimum of 10% of a stadium’s capacity, which in Sunderland’s case is around 5,000 of their 49,000 or so seats. However, fellow Sunderland Director Charlie Methven as now indicated that their intention is to break Checkatrade Trophy rules and give Newcastle fans a lower allocation than they are entitled to. Charlie Methven speaking to BBC Newcastle: “The rules of the (Checkatrade Trophy) competition are that the away team gets 10% of a stadium’s capacity. “In our case, that is just under 50,000. “Which would mean getting 5,000 tickets and Newcastle have asked us for that allocation. “I think that our view, and the view of our internal security team, is that this is maybe a bit high. We're supposedly getting 2,800
It's pathetic really but understandable, they wouldn't want to be shown up by a louder set of fans for an U21's team than they get at the bungalow. Let's face it however many we get allocated there will be many more there than the official figures. Also just questioning it but if half of their stadium is closed, does that mean we can only have 10% of the available seats or is it of total capacity regardless?
Seems to be total capacity, regardless of whether they've closed part of it or not - based on total number of seats Thing is - you'll probably get N'cle fans getting hold of tickets in the mackem bit now - which will be even harder to police/steward then giving the proper allocation and segregating it correctly
Shouldn't bother playing it. Or play it behind closed doors. Too much potential aggro for such a bizarre meaningless fixture. I bet the police are proper pissed off.
Like I say I'd bet regardless of the amount of seats we are allocated we will have additional numbers there anyway. Went to Charlton vs AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, apparently 150-200 Wimbledon fans expected at The Valley - I'd say about 1000 turned up and jumped in to the closed section at the top. No-one even tried to stop us.
